What the Hell happened to Qtip's new album, "Open"?

sad Ok, first they said, early 2004, then they had a date set in febuary, then March....it's June!...I know it's probably just been pushed back( I see that he's appearing at a date overseas in Dublin later this summer)...but this is starting to sound familiar, like what happened with Kamaal the Abstract...anybody heard anything?

where's he playing in dublin? i might be able to make it over... if anyone does have any news on this album let us know, it has already been given a 4* mojo review and there must be more people looking foward to it!

thanks, actually I just checked a bit more and looks like he might be playing more places in europe-he's doing two nights at the jazz cafe in london, so I'll probably go there if I can find someone to go with and get some money together!
anyone know if he takes a full band on tour? his new album has james hurt on piano and kurt rosenwinkel on guitar as bandmembers so hopefully it won't just be a backing track accompanying the tour...

edit just read properly the above post, and can see he will be with band biggrin

Q-Tip

Thursday 8th & Friday 9th July
doors 7pm

A Tribe Called Quest's former frontman, Q-Tip, returns to the Jazz Cafe for two nights in July in support of his latest solo album, Open.

With a significant career change away from the mainstream hip hop of 1999's Amplified, Q Tip's latest offering adopts Outkast diversity by delving into free-flowing jazz-rock and touches of Hendrix psychedelics.

Until the rumours of a Quest reunion become reality, get your fix of one of hip hop's true innovators at the Jazz Cafe this July.

oooo I look forward to this.I hope it actually gets released.I was disappointed when "Kamaal" wasn't released.Although,it needed some work to truly beef it up.I think I know where Tip is heading and I hope he gets there. He is a great artist.

I like Q-Tip, he has a unique flow and sound to his voice, but I think he lacks depth in lyrical content, esp. in his solo project, 'Amplified'. Although I really loved a good handfull of tracks on that album, overall it was just slightly above average... but still not bad for a solo debut.

The 'Tribe' dayz were the best dayz.... phat mello east coast hip-hop stamp all over their joints! thumbs up!

latest news is that q tip cancelled the european tour to which i had tickets, apparently to complete work on his next album, open. which is strange as it has already been reviewed in the magazine mojo. i shall be sending an email to this magazine to enquire further...
