Sophie Ellis-Bextor

I've taken a liking to her single "I Won't Change You" and I wanted to know what you all think about her. How is her latest album Shoot From The Hip (2003) is it any good? Let me know.

I bought the 12" of "Murder On The Dancefloor" after the Music Choice cable channel gave it heavy airplay. I love that song.

Most of the "Together Again" mixes are incredible. I also love the club mix Jonathan Peters did for "Doesn't Really Matter."

As for Sophie, her schtick is that she's this society princess (in reality she came from a very privileged background), and she sings as if she's thoroughly disinterested with the proceedings. Quite a good voice, and an interesting style. Her Read My Lips album is a great neo-disco record. Her newest was a flop, and I haven't heard it yet.

Cinister Cee: The Jonathan Peters mix of TA is THE TRUTH. I saw J*sus when I first heard this mix. It's very rare, it was released just for the DJs on a promo record. I haven't lived the same since biggrin

Voices: I agree. For me, the Together Again mixes are the best... ever. The maxis have some of the best remixes I've ever heard in my life on there. TA is the ONLY song where I have every single single released (domestic, import, etc.) I'm currently seeking the white labels.

I bulls**t you not, listening to the Together Again mixes on loud subwoofer surround sound speakers is like ascension. I love songs that take you on a journey, TA is like traveling.

Oh yeah, love the J. Peters mix of DRM, too.

Rhythm Nation is my ERA! I loved the album, wasn't all over the remixes though. TVR was the era with all the great remixes for me. I've collected stuff from the TVR era the most.

I actually remember her from her days in the rather dreary indie-rock band "theaudience" (sic). The music was eminently forgettable, but I've always remembered them because I thought she was painfully sexy.

Update:

The CD arrived. The album's got some nice cuts on it. My favorites include:

Another Day (love the electronic beat to this track, probably my overall favorite)
I Won't Change You (the track that sparked my interest)
Mixed Up World
Party In My Head (why do I think of John Mayer's "No Such Thing" when I hear this song? Maybe it's the guitar riff.)
Nowhere Without You (this is a great driving song or a rainy day song)
I Am Not Good At Not Getting What I Want

This is retail store dressing room music! biggrin Love it!

Also, on the Read My Lips LP I like..

Lover (the beat is so Kylie-esque, I feel fever when I hear this)
Murder on the Dancefloor

Still exploring though.

Thanks for the recommendation, Chico!
