Battle of the Old School HipHop classics - Round 1

adapting Byrons knock out battle-concept a bit (just to save some time and threads) we will go through 3 rounds to find the final winner. You have to pick one track from each pair, that you want to move on to the next round. So meet the contestants:

Rappers Delight (Sugarhill Gang) vs. Planet Rock (Afrika Bambaata)

The Breaks (Kurtis Blow) vs. The Message (Grandmaster Flash)

Walk This Way (Run DMC) vs. The Show (Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew)

Bring the Noise (Public Enemy) vs. Paid In Full (Eric B & Rakim)
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Rappers Delight (Sugarhill Gang)

The Message (Grandmaster Flash)

Walk This Way (Run DMC)

Paid In Full (Eric B & Rakim)

The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives.
The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists.
Is it a deal?

Paid In Full (Eric B & Rakim) this one is close, but I think Paid in full is more of a landmark.

UptownDeb

I've got this old school "Sugar Hill Gang vs Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five" comp. The concept is supposed to be a boxing match. Don't remember how many rounds. One song by each act is played and then there's some ringside commentary by Ice T and someone else, can't remember. I won't say who won. razz

Don't know if the polls closed, but here's my ballot:

Rappers Delight (Sugarhill Gang) vs. Planet Rock (Afrika Bambaata) (THAT WAS A HARD DECISION!)

The Breaks (Kurtis Blow) vs. The Message (Grandmaster Flash)

Walk This Way (Run DMC) vs. The Show (Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew)

Bring the Noise (Public Enemy) vs. Paid In Full (Eric B & Rakim)

sorry, polls are down, so please proceed to round 2 --> http://www.prince.org/msg/8/101290

anyway, thanx for posting, and Kurtis Blow is surely happy to get at least ONE vote to save his honors, but competing against the Message, ain't easy lol
