12" Single of the Day (7/4/04): Anita Ward, "Ring My Bell" it's been a while since i've done one of these "song of the day" threads, so i decided to do one that's dedicated to a 12" single that i just bought at the wrecka sto earlier today...found a copy of anita ward's "ring my bell" single...been lookin for a copy of the 12" for the longest, so i lucked out today. the coolest part about this is that if you listen to it with headphones, you can hear the other instruments in the background (they dropped stuff in one by one in the intro part of the song for this cut).
testify, if you've heard this or if you happen to have a copy in your vinyl stash.

I still got the 8-track of this boogah I had the biggest crush on her as a kid because she sounded as little as I was at the time.

This was one of those songs I liked as a kid, but grew out of eventually. It's...aiight. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

You know, on the other side of the coin there are songs that I CONSCIOUSLY slept on while I was younger, but I like them a lot more as an adult. I always heard them, but they never hit me like they do now. Maybe I should start a thread about that. Like some of the O'Jays songs. But sometimes if I'm not listening to these songs at the moment they slip my mind...so maybe I need to put that off. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

"Ring My Bell" was one of the hottest jams from the summer of 1979.It's one of those cheesy songs that you can't resist,no matter how hard you try (lol). It's also one of those songs that the "Disco Sucks" crowd used as ammunition,to try to prove that disco was mindless and silly. But the song has become an Old School classic, and I still hear it frequently on Old School R&B radio stations.

I've never heard the 12 Inch. Is it different from the album version, it is about 8 minutes long. Andy is a four letter word.
