Rock song of the day: Van Halen's Jump

How great was this song when I first heard it on the radio. I was shocked to hear Van Halen do such a poppy song, but it didn't take long to utterly fall in love with the tune.

The synth line is simple, but classic; along the lines of When Doves Cry. The lyrics, amazing. The guitar solo melds into a great synth solo, and drum crash. Very much an anthem for that period of time, and a changing of the guard.

Just one of the best songs of all time.

This song brings back memories of the 1984 Cubs. The song was played in the opening credits for the Cubs that year.

Jump is a great pop/rock song. Van Halen were amazing in their day. I saw them for the first time in 1979. It was fantastic.

David Lee Roth just did this song with the Boston Pops on the 4th of July.

His vibe was that of someone just released from a mental institution but the orchestra played some of the small guitar parts in the song and did an amazing job.

The song has great muzak potential but I'll see what the current VH does with it on Saturday night headbang
