Head Over Heels With Grace Jones Again LOL! Gave a revisitng listen 2 her infamous compilation "Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions " while cocking launch.
You can't sit and tell me that she's not influenced by David Bowie & Prince. Yet she's an extreme individualist, something about her reminds me of Macy Gray. Both have that fatal/funky beauty going on but she's more of a flamboyant tuff bitch. Anyway,,,,there must me some fans sprinkled around here lol I just know it. Spill yo guts out ya'll

the compass point CDs are wonderful - if anyone's looking for a perfect starting-off point with grace jones' music, they can't go wrong with this one. i love love LOVE me some grace...i loved her since way back in the day, when she was a regular guest on david letterman and would come out in a metal breastplate, cracking a whip.

Agreed.te Compas Point Sessions are essential listening
I think people got hung up on her image and took the music for granted. Slave to the Rythm? Nipple to the Bottle? damn...Private Life? Love is the Drug? In my opinion, every cover version that she did was miles ahead of the originals. We wont even get into how Sly and Robbie groove the shit out of the rythm section.

I've never heard the compilation you're talking about, but I remember the first time I heard Grace Jones actually SING. On her Nightclubbing there's a song called "I've Done It Again" that had my mouth agape while listening to it.
Before I purchased this album all I knew of her was the stuff on the radio and Mtv during the early '80s, and wow, did she surprise me. That monotone-ish voice she usually uses isn't part of this song. Not that I don't like her other songs where she uses it, because her cover of "Demolition Man" and "Pull Up To The Bumper" are still THE SHEEEEIIIIT. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Grace Jones is hardcore. I really like her. She's got awesome choices of cover songs too. Her version of "She's Lost Control" cracks me up every time.

I lover cameo in Lil' Kim's "Notorious K.I.M." where she sang a hook in a song called "Revolution". Here's what Kim said about the collaporation in Interview magazine:
AS: I love the track "Revolution," which has a guest appearance by Grace Jones. LK: She was a ball of fire. I went to the Bahamas recently to finish part of my album, and she was there doing a show. She found me in the studio, and we partied for the whole weekend. It got to the point where I was like, Oh my God, I can't party anymore! [laughs] But I love her.

I loved her roles in "A view to a kill"-u know the James Bond movie and of course in the classic "Boomerang" movie in 1992!
Remember her song on the soundtrack to "Boomerang"? Track was slammin NewJackish pop sort of track- called "7 day weekend" and lyrics r good in my book! That track slamm'd hard! Did she make an album inearly 90's? 'Cause if it sounds like "7 day weekend" then i want in.....

Grace is probably the only good thing about that movie....easily the worst in the entire franchise. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....."
