ok, nobody is too sexy for cardiac surgery. but still.

technically, what he had wasn't really surgery. what they do, is introduce a large needle in to the femoral artery in the groin, and feed a catheter up the artery into the heart, feed a wire into the coronary artery in question, the inflate the balloon with the stent attached. they don't have to cut open or crack the chest to do this, and if all goes well, recovery is pretty quick. it is a serious procedure, but way, way less traumatic than heart surgery.

i wish him well, i've always loved his work.

I checked the member forums, and there's not a whole lot of additional info from the Bowie camp, other than he's at home recuperating with his wife and daughter and that he was able to relay that little message to his web site over the past couple of days. Sounds like slowly but surely, he's on the mend.
