everyone owns this CD except for me mad

i gotta hear it!!!

Oh my god, you'll shit yourself!

I totally thought it was gonna be a bunch of hype, but it's not.

Imagine the sound of Side 1 of LOW, but much happier. It's got the same punchy drums, thin guitars and dark wit.

The Franz Ferdinand record is the TRUTH. I thought it was purely a "critics record" (you know the type of album all critics love, but the public's like, "uhh, this is sh*te") -- not the case with the Franz Ferdinand record. Everything everyone's saying is true. The album is completely worth it for Take Me Out, The Dark of the Matinée, Auf Achse, Michael, and 40'. The whole album is life though! Check it out.

Or imagine Gang of Four's Entertainment minus the boneheaded Marxism and with a more tuneful vocalist...

However you want to describe it, it's definitely worth hearing.

I've been hearing a lot of folks say that it's a mix between Bowie and Talking Heads, which, needless to say, should be a no-brainer for me to pick up. wink I'll have to check it out soon.

No way. Gang of Four and Bowie was much funkier than Franz will ever be.

Bowie? I don't hear any of that in their music. Talking Heads, yeah, but nowhere near their brilliance. I think it's a good CD. Don't set yourself up for disappointment thinking it's going to be the next big thing.

it's the drumming/rhythms..... very Berlin-era. some of the melodies too. but then, i've only heard the album 3 times or so. but i picked that up right away.

It's official. I will probaly never like Franz Ferdinand. I've heard too many people telling me I HAVE to get it cause I will LOVE it. Which automatically makes me suspicious. Too bad really. Maybe in 5 years I can re-discover them. wink

i'm not a fan of the strokes either, but some of their stuff is catchy. i don't think i'll be getting any of their albums soon, but at least i don't go running to turn the channel when their videos pop up every now and then. i suppose that's progress or something.

oh monkey, i know - it's just now that all the hype and pressure to like them is over and done with, i'm able to listen to them with less expectation and they're kinda catchy. i don't think i'd buy their stuff, but i don't mind hearing them as much these days when i go out or whatnot. shrug
