Janet gives a surprise performance at NYC Gay Pride!

sorry if this has been posted before. i watch cnn/foxnews/msnbc all the time and i did not see this get picked up by anyone. i also didn't read it in any newspapers. seems kind of strange...i guess the backlash is some serious shit, huh? anyway, here's the only article i found, courtesy of the gossip pages.

New York City’s gay pride festivities ended with a bang on Sunday, and it wasn’t just thanks to the explosive fireworks that capped the dance held on Pier 54. The rumors proved to be true as Janet Jackson took the stage at 10 p.m. with a group of dancers and whipped the crowd of shirtless boys into a frenzy by performing “Just a Little While.” Although a white cap obscured her face (leading some to wonder if it really was Janet), she doffed the hat post-song, asking the audience to “raise your hand if you’re a bottom!” The comment elicited hoots and hollers from the crowd, which included Boy Meets Boy bachelor James Getzlaff (who did not raise his hand), who’s currently starring off-Broadway in My Big Gay Italian Wedding. Next Janet broke into her crowd-pleasing “Together Again.” And for those of you wondering, she was definitely singing live. As the song came to a close, she thanked the audience and a 15-minute burst of fireworks began.

actually, what would constitute a "surprise performance" for Janet, would be if she didn't start a show motionless with a hat obscuring her face and launching into a slutty number with an army of dancers with airtight choreography.

the singing live part is surprising, though. unless it was a re-recorded backing track. she does that frequently, just to make it not so obvious that she's lip-synching.

Yes, she does that an awful lot! She used to wear out the "live" version of Control.

I heard that,at one point, she yelled "How many bottoms are out there?" The crowd roared, and Janet smiled, raised her own hand and said "Me too!"

the song (and video) is hot! the fact that it is not being played on radio and very, very lightly on tv is a sure sign that the industry is screwing her. i can't get over the hypocrisy of that industry...they create the sexual fascinations and then turn on the artists when it bites them in the ass! fuckers.

The industry is still screwing Janet indeed, and how different was what Janet showed compared to the pasty that Lil Kim wore??? Still seen a bunch of flesh I didn't want to see, but damn people need to get over what Janet did.

i think we're all over it. unfortunately for Janet, we're over her too.

btw, the difference between Janet and Lil Kim is that Janet did it in front of a family audience on the biggest television event of the year on broadcast television.

Lil Kim was wearing her thing on cable.

hardly much difference these days, but there is a distinction.

Actually, I remember when Britney Spears did that 2000 Kids Choice Awards show and "forgot" (rolleyes yeah, sure) to wear a bra. All you could see was nipples under a white crop top that was super tight. All those little kids tuning into Nickelodeon got a nice eye full that night. But, Brit still managed to sell over 10 million copies with that first album after this incident and radio stations and music video channels sure didn't boycott her ass. confused That's the biggest double standard I can think of and I find it beyond revolting. At least Janet never tried to market herself as fuckin' kid-friendly.

highly doubtful considering even with the backlash janet has sold over 1 million records. also, let's not forget that many of the radio listeners who have heard "all nite" have liked it.

Let's not get into that "family audience" bs. It was the superbowl. Football. The audience for that is a bunch of straight men who drink too much & can't even get hard ons.

I think Janet is probably experiencing the same kind of backlash now that Prince did following USA for Africa. nod

yes, sold 1 million. but how many of those 1 million copies sold were actually enjoyed? not mine.

and yeah, what's not to like about "All Nite"? it's just as good as all of the other ones she's put out just like it.

Agreed. I'm soo tired of hearing that lame ass excuse. I watched the Super Bowl and nothing about it was kid-friendly. Ninety percent of the commercials had to do with beer. I didn't see a single "Don't Drink and Drive" commercial the entire broadcast. Not to mention that lovely commercial about "erectile dysfunction". Then, "Survivor" came on right after it and everybody is naked on that show. I see more on "Survivor" with the blurred out body parts than I saw of the 3 second nipple slip on the Super Bowl. Didn't notice it until they replayed it 2 million times for the two weeks after the Super Bowl. Plus, I distinctly remember seeing a fight break-out amonst the players during the game. Yeah, let's teach our kids how to beat the hell out of someone else if they don't call the play the way we want them to. All the parents who are complaining about the Half-time show are idiots anyway. I counted three warnings before the nipple incident even happened. Three warnings that said that the halftime show was not suitable for younger viewers, but apparently the majority of parents nowadays are a little too stupid to see what's right in front of their faces. First off, these parents don't let their children watch MTV.....so why were they letting them watch a halftime show that was produced by....hmm MTV??? That was warning number one. Next, the list of half-time performers was announced a month before the Super Bowl. Yeah, P. Diddy, Nelly, and Kid Rock always make good, wholesome kid-friendly music. rolleyes Let me go and put "Pimp Juice" on for my 7 year old cousin to listen to, because it's the shit. That was warning number two. Lastly, Nelly grabbed his crotch a good two times, Diddy groped a couple of the female dancers, and Kid Rock was wearing the American flag like a fuckin' poncho and commenced to giving shout-outs to "all the hookers trickin' out in Hollywood". That was the third warning and all of this happened waaay before Nipplegate. Parents had plenty of opportunities to do their damn jobs and turn the channel, but they didn't; and then they had the nerve to open the mouths and complain. confused Not to mention, that if Justin Timberlake hadn't agreed to do the stunt, it would have probably never happened anyway, but Janet gets the majority of the blame. Man, whatever! I saw footage of the male streaker who was running around on the field before or after the half-time show and these "parents" didn't seem to be offended by him. People seriously need to take a test before they have children nowadays, because it's obvious that 80% of these people couldn't raise a goldfish without instructions.
