Fav Billy ocean tracks....... Underated?

I really like Billy, his voice was great and I way prefered it to Lional richie's!

Very underated and slept on and i honestly think he hd one of the best voices around...

"Get outta my dreams (get into my car)" is my all-time fav of his and in general i only like his mid-uptempos!

Favs:-

"Tear down these walls"
"Gun for hire"
"Stand and deliver"
"Calypso crazy"
"Loverboy"

and of course the eternal 80's classic (along with "Get outta my dreams..."), "When the gong gets tough, the tough get going"

Very, very 80's but still love it! I also like the 2 exclusive tracks off his greatest hits compilation, in fact their as good as "Get outta my dreams" 4 me!

"Licence to chill" is killer funky and uplifting (like all his uptempos) too!
"I sleep much better in someone elses bed" has a great late 80's pop production on it and the verse construction is exciting 4 me! Good rap by Fresh Prince (will smith) too-I forget who the girl is the Prince is rapping with though)

Vid to "Get outta my dreams" was fun as was the all star romancing the stone cast in "when the gong gets tough"- The "Loverboy" video though is bloody wierd though- U seen it?

I know, like Lional he's famous 4 his ballads but I love his dancey no only really-oh yeah I also love "Love really hurts without u" too, a 70's track with deliberate retro motown stylings! Great voice.....

Was billy underated or what? I miss him.....were is he now?

although I was never a big fan of the mid 80's to late 80's stuff, I always liked "Nights (feel like gettin down)", and "Calypso Funkin'"...

nod I need to find a compilation with it, or at best, the album (cd) it originally came from. It's one of those classics I rarely hear, but when I do I have to blast it. biggrin

Suddenly!

Cheesy? Yes.

But a classic melody, right for its time. I had my first slow dance to this. Then it faded into Richies "Hello" and my hands moved lower....oh joy! biggrin

I love Billy Ocean. I am especially a fan of his ballads. Suddenly is probably the most beautiful song in that era and his delivery is right on. Not yelling or bellowing, just easy flow.

Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run) (1984)
Mystery Lady (1984)
Syncopation (1984)
The Long and Winding Road (1984)
Suddenly (1984)
Love Is Forever (1986)
There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry) (1986)
Nights (Feel Like Gettin' Down) (1981)
Love Really Hurts Without You (1976)

As you can see,I really, really love his 1984 album 'Suddenly'.Not a bad song on it.

I was a huge fan until he put out that awful 1988 single "Get Outta My Dreams,Get Into My Car" disbelief
