The TRUE King/Inventor Of R&B Music-Rememer Him?

Louis Jordan

Just saw a bio-segment about him the other night, its been long time since I've seen something about him on TV. They also showed clip of his famous short movie "Caldonia".

I became a fan since Malcom X's soundtrack which includes his infamous "Beans & Cornbread". This is the man who built the bridge between Jazz/swing music & RnB up untill Ray Charles came up and everybody started calling it "Soul".

His Jump Blues influence might be even more profound on Rock music. Without him, either Chuck Berry would never have been known to the world, or he'd have been a VERY different artist. When you hear Rock artists who came to be in the '50s, like Fats Domino and Berry you hear the cadence of delivery in their vocals that was nothing but LOUIS JORDAN.

And saxophone was the featured instrument of Rock music prior to its evolution of being piano driven, and then eventually guitar driven. That stuff was pure Juke Joint!

You think Ike Turner's "Rocket 88" (and early years) were influenced by Louis Jordan? Bet the house on it.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Good lookin' out! This guy was great!

I grew up listening to him -- my parents were huge fans. I found a Best Of CD that hits the high points of his career, and I listen to it every so often...
