I just posted a reply 2 the 'best piano trax' thread and now I'm wondering if anybody on this site has ever heard
of Katja Maria Werker.

All I know is that she's a german singer and that she made
a brilliant album called "Contact Myself".

The whole album sounds semi-acoustic, with strings, horns, piano, live drums and the occasional slight electronic sound floating in and out of the songs.

I don't know much about her, apart from this album. My brother bought it and as soon as I heard it, I got him 2 sell me his copy.

So I'm wondering if anyone out there knows if she's released more albums.....

And 4 those that don't know her, you should really check her out. It's worth it.

Don't know if it's still up on audiogalaxy, but if you download the song "Carried The Cross", I guarantee that it will b on permanent rotation on Ur player 4 the next few weeks.

Here's what I found on Amazon.de: "1997 gewann Katja Maria Werker den Musikerpreis "Rückkopplung", 1998 den "Stimmtreff". 1999 lernte sie dann auf einer England-Reise Peter Gabriel kennen. Der ermutigte sie, ihre Musik auch zu veröffentlichen. Das Ergebnis, What The Bird Said, erschien kurz darauf in Eigenregie. 2000 dann unterschrieb die Musikerin bei einer großen Plattenfirma. Contact Myself ist das Ergebnis dieser Zusammenarbeit. Darauf finden sich 13 getragene, sehr fragile Popsongs (plus ein paar Bonus-Tracks mit Alternative-Versionen).

Melancholische, anrührende Nummern, die von traurigen Momenten, verletzten Gefühlen und Einsamkeit erzählen. Karg instrumentiert, die Stimme hingehaucht. Nur ganz im Hintergrund untermalen Keyboards, Streicher und Perkussion die traurigen Lieder, die Katja Werker zur akustischen Gitarre vorträgt. Ab und an kommt auch noch eine Trompete ins Spiel, gespielt von keinem Geringeren als Element Of Crime-Mastermind Sven Regener, seines Zeichens ebenfalls ein Meister der Melancholie. Wer in einer hektischen Zeit seine Gedanken einmal treiben lassen möchte, findet hier den idealen Soundtrack. --Wolfgang Hertel". So the answer is 'yes', she has issued another c.d., but it is almost certainly very rare; good luck finding it (though I suspect Katja herself might have a few hundred). Don't go becoming an obsessed Katja Maria Werker fan!
