Name the BEST Concert you ever Attended and Why While it's difficult to choose from the many exellent concerts I have attended, I'm gonna have to go with Lovesexy in 88...
Why? Cause I was on a high for weeks and weeks after that concert.. (only problem was that I didnt regain the full use of my hearing untill about 3 days after the gig..lol) and there it is

I have seen most shows he played in Europe from 1986, but I must say the best was Dortmund´s Lovesexy live television broadcast.
It was the most FIRM concert I have seen, even though any Sign `O´ The Times show was magnificent just because of the inclusion of that splendid performance of Forever In My Life )remember the lighter wave on the beat?) The best aftershow, the best concert I ever saw was Prince playing the Bataclan during the One Nite Alone tour. He was SO in the mood he had the entire room electrified with his energy. The voices he used, all of them instruments he played, the fun he had, the songs he played. I was SO in awe.

Tom Waits in Stockholm 1999.
Listen to Tom Waits and find out how 40 000 bottles of wild turkey will effect your voice. I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

Apart from the 1st time I saw Prince, I would have to say Primal Scream at the Reading Festival, UK in 2000 despite the mud! They had recently released Exterminator and were joined onstage by Kevin Shields, formally of My Bloody Valentine. One great moment was when they blended New Order's 'In a Lonely Place' with a totally trippy and blissful 'Higher Than The Sun' and Bobby Gillespie dedicating one song to Uri Gellar (probably due to the drugs I expect!). It completely overshadowed Oasis's show who were headlining.

John foggerty was the opening act 3. during his show a woman next to me said, while john was singing 'proud mary', "He's singing one of tina's songs, how weak is that." Couldn't stop laughing for the entire show! 4. it was Tina It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I wish I'd seen that tour live... I've only seen it on video and I must say it's completely of the chain.. such madness, such energy, such creativity... and there it is

Tom Verlaine in 1987 - He was supporting "flashlight", his best solo album. He had a solid backing band that stayed out of the way, and he played brilliant and lengthy guitar solos with "Marquee Moon" as his final encore. One couldn't have asked for more.

Ex-Moderator | Well, off the top of my head...
Believe it or not, the recent Mpls stop of Musicology is at the top of my list, along with Basement Jaxx at First Ave about 4-5 years ago (I've never danced harder in my life!) Radiohead at Glastonbury Festival 2003 (magical) My first Cracker show at First Ave, I think in '96 (I love Cracker, and they opened with my fave song at the time, Big Dipper, not to mention the fact that I'd been waiting years to see them since they always played ID shows and I FINALLY turned 21) Pixies at the Fine Line this last April (happiest show ever!) Night 4 (accoustic night) of the 2002 Celebration (if you were there, no explination is necessary) |

the best that WASN'T prince?
hmmmm...seeing sonic youth last summer was pretty sublime - i'm sure the band wouldn't consider it their best show by a longshot, but it was my first SY show and we were seated smack dab in front of thurston moore. (not to mention i went to the show with a certain indigo cherub, which made things all the more fun) seeing nick cave & the bad seeds at the chicago theater a couple years ago was sublime. diamanda galas did a show at midnight on halloween at carnegie hall that made me feel every emotion in the book, that's definitely up there on the list. i'm sure there are so many more i could list...i've seen very few concerts that i haven't enjoyed. it would be easier to list the duds.

Prince & NPG - Musicology, San Jose CA, June 2, 2004
The energy was incredible, he ripped the shit outta every song & put Whole Lotta Love in a coffin. Being front row didn't hurt either Absolutely the best concert experience ever, ever, EVER (and ONA Oakland is hard to beat!)

Okay, I did not realise this was in the NON Prince forum. Sorry. Indeed. That concert was awesome (sawit in Holland) But the best concerts of late; Any This Morning Jacket show played in Holland. Any Franz Ferdinand show played in the world. And hopefully tomorrow The Pixies. Can't wait.

Madonna-June 28th 2004 in Worcester,Mass. I was in the dance pit and was only inches away from her! The whole show was awesome and she sounded and looked great
Aerosmith-New Years Eve 2000 in Boston,Mass. They were sooo good and we had really good seats. We could see the bands families watching the show from the side of the stage. We even waved to Chelsea Tyler and she waved back Bush with Veruca Salt-April 12th 1997 in Boston,Mass. This was the first concert I ever went to and I will never forget it.I'm still a huge fan of both Bush and Veruca Salt and I was lucky to see them before Veruca Salt broke up. I'm sure Prince will be added to this list when I see him in August ~Stephanie~
