Hmmm, confusing being out of shape with being a great drummer....neutral

lol The guy is just overrated. He's solid, and his style fits perfectly in Metallica, but his playing isn't special to me. The double bass thing was being done long before he entered the scene, and I wasn't really into it then either. I've never heard anybody with it that made my jaw drop or say dayyyyuuumm! It's always been the ones who use the single bass that impressed me more...one who even did more with a single setup, and another who made it sound like he had a double setup. I think using a single setup forces a drummer to develop a more expansive ability. Less is many times more - if you've got the gift.

I feel you. I guess I was really impressed hearing him for the first time when I was 15 years old. lol I haven't followed them since 1988, so I guess I'm not that impressed with them much anymore, myself. neutral I'll forever give him props for the first three albums they put out. horns About the double bass, he's the first I ever heard doing it, maybe Neil Pert was doing it before him, I can't remember. hmmm Apparently, you've been around longer than me though. giggle Oh yeah, Lars was a bit portly back then so maybe he was just out of shape.lol shrug

Uh, If you haven't already check out Ride the Lighting, Kill 'em Alland Master of Puppets. There's some alright stuff on them, it may not be as cutting edge as it was when if first came out. lol But, I still find them a good listen.

Now that I re-read my response...I didn't explain that the way I should have. Oh well. You got the gist. biggrin
