TLC Replacing Lisa Left Eye

Remember the Missy Elliot song 'Can you hear Me' from 'Under Construction'. TLC said-
"I know you in real good hands
With God but damn I miss you
Aayliah if you see left eye will you tell her
That me and boz miss her too
Cuz no ones gunna fill her space
T-C, L not replaced

Yall the reasons we learned to love
Fly high with your 22 doves"
Well, I just found this on VH1 news. What do you think. It's kinda sad, I really love TLC. This is just wrong. disbelief

Some two years after the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, the surviving members of TLC are moving on — by putting together a reality show to find her replacement.
Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas are signing on the dotted line this week with FOX Television Studios, sources familiar with the deal say, for a show that would document their search for a new member to join them for recordings and possibly a televised concert. The show does not yet have a network commitment nor a premiere date. Details are expected next week.
Following Lopes' passing, T-Boz and Chilli completed the fourth TLC album, 3D, without her, but made sure to pay tribute to their friend by using her previously recorded vocals in five of the songs. They also incorporated a few Left Eye-inspired images, such as the painted black mark under the eye as well as her name on clothes and clubs, in their videos for "Girl Talk" and "Hands Up."
The group played what was to be its farewell concert — despite shouting out that "TLC is forever" on the 3D song "Dirty Dirty" — seven months after the album's release.
"We take it video by video and project by project," T-Boz told MTV News at the time. "Lisa isn't here — that's reality. It's not easy to come up with how to incorporate her."

I dont think it will be a good idea to replace Lisa, it will just have a Destiny's Child vibe to it. I loved TLC for their chemistry with each other as well as their music. A music group should not only be talented but have a good relationship with one another. U can totally tell when groups dont have that family vibe. Look at the now disbanded Da Band!! TLC was one of my fave female goups. Honestly I dont think the album will do extremely well I mean look what 3D did.

Either stay a duo or just form a new group.

Don't disrespect someone's memory-especially after you've said it wouldn't happen.

Sounds like they've not only been reading "How to Fuck Up Your Legacy", but they're writing a new chapter. disbelief

I agree. Start a new group with a new name. TLC has too much history and it should also be left with Lisa. I hope that they grasp that before the new girl/and or project gets underway.
pray God bless everyone. NO exceptions. pray

Very bad move, you can't replace Lisa, form a new group. Although I DO think it's a good idea that INXS is making this move, 5/6 of their band is intact, it just seems cold that TLC is doing it.

You can't just "replace" Left Eye! Please! confused

They are adding a new member. It'll never be the same.

They should have remained a duo.

I also think it's a bad idea.
There are just some things you don't do out of respect.
And if INXS really thinks it can get by without Michael H. there trippin'.
Has anyone seen or heard the promo's for "The Doors of the 21st Century?"
Two of the original band are actually doing it.They got Ian Astbury from "The Cult" doing his best Jim Morrison as lead singer.
Unbelivable.....

Hasn't everyone learned from The Brand New Heavies, EnVougue, Destiny's Child, Lucy Pearl and Blaque? Replacing members is never good.

my guess is, they're not really replacing her but they're "replacing her" (in quotes) for the sake of doing a reality show about it. after the show's done, i bet the "replacement" will never be heard from again.

Yes they did, but, I'm thinking to myself, (and NO disrespect to Lisa whatsoever) but, come on, Lisa's contribution to the songs were minimal - she added spoken word portions to pop songs, that's all.

It'd be like if the rapper from Linkin Park left, or from some other singing/rapping combo job - the songs are already there, and the hooks, the part of the song that you remember the most, are the sung part.

So, for them to say the band will never be the same without her is nice and warm fuzzy and all that stuff, but in reality, you could find another she-rapper to add the sprinklings to the hit songs in no time.

The reality show thing - I've already written a ton on my attitude about bands using reality shows to replace missing members. (See INXS to use reality show to find new singer)

Whatever. She'll be missed sorely. But to kill your career because of the loss of one member, who'd already pretty much announced that she was leaving the band, come on. Move on. Keep singing, keep making songs.

Right. Same with Nirvana, AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Halen, Living Colour, Prince (uhm, you remember the Revolution? That band he replaced?) and a slew of other bands who HAVE had continued success after the replacement of a member, dead or otherwise. Come on y'all, don't be so shallow as to sweat the replacement until you've HEARD the replacement.

EDIT:
Let me clarify: Nirvana replaced their drummer with Dave Grohl before their multi-million-selling "Nevermind" album. I wasn't talking about replacing the shotgun eater.

No, I mean just this news in general. You live in ATL so you know how many times Tionne and Chilli have both expressed how "TLC IS DONE WITHOUT LISA."

Just doesn't sound concrete enough for me. shrug

I agree, but I think Lisa's passing was hyped b/c the media almost completely overlooked Aaliyah's death, and in some weird way they used her death to make up for that.

And b4 someone asks, I was working at the AJC during the time when Aaliyah and Left-Eye passed, and there were several loud, long and emotionally charged discussions as to the "bigging-up" of their deaths. The paper got hundreds of complaints from readers (who weren't fans), asking why we were spending so much column space on Left Eye, and one of the responses given was thay the AJC was blasted for not providing more coverage of Aaliyah's death, so they were being proactive in that regard.

They should really do something to take it off of MTV News then. I saw it broadcast at least 3 time today. Thanks for clearing it up.
