thought you'd be interested in this.

i was surfing the net and came across a killer live version of kiss by angelo albani, a rather good italian singer who seems to like prince a lot (he always covers some songs in his concerts).

this is an over 8-minute jam session (kinda bluesy and funky at the same time) which i recommend to all of you. it is free for listening and downloading.
it is a very raw live recording but still very good (it is available both at 128 and 96 kbps).

angelo albani is not very famous in italy yet, though there's quite a buzz around him at the moment and some insiders claim he may be the next big thing around here.
however, i only can say that two years ago i personally witnessed an incredible jam session of stevie wonder's superstion played by angelo albani with sonny t. and tommy barbarella!!! they sent chills down my old spine.
that's why i thought he's worth checking out

It´s a nice cover....recommended!

i like this version. i dont care for his falsetto too much, but when he sings lower he sounds good. good acoustic guitar work.

it happened some two years ago, here in milan, italy.
the venue was the same where the kiss cover was recorded two years later, the nidaba theatre.
sonny t. and tommy barbarella were in town because at the time they were part of the backup band of an italian singer named giorgia (michael bland was in her band as well).
they entered the place (which is quite small actually, let's say it's the typical blues club) and sat down listening to angelo albani playing with his band.
during the break they asked to come upstage and did that song. amazing to say the least.
i noticed a video camcorder that night so maybe someone from angelo albani's crew may have a videotape of that special appearance.
i may investigate this and try to contact this singer (i understand he is from milan too) if you're interested or if this site wants to post it somewhere.

no, i did not explain correctly
tommy and sonny played on superstion two years ago.
this version of kiss has angelo albani's band playing on it.

just an addition to the post about this "kiss" cover.
i have forgotten to post that the song will be available until sunday march, 21 at 23.59 european time.
this song was supposed to be a gift for his italian fans who received the exclusive link i posted.
sorry, i forgot that many of you can't speak italian and therefore could not know about this short-term availability. be sure to check it out while it is still available.
byu the way, i have come to know that also a version of nothing compares 2 u exists, though not on his site or on his records. i'll try to find it or get it from his staff if you're interested.

update:
i was contacted by angelo albani's webmaster and i was told that the version of kiss will stay online for another 10 days due to the high amount of downloads. also they are considering publishing the singer's version of "nothing compares 2 u" through an exclusive link that will be promoted only on prince forums worldwide (he told me this is supposed to be a "thankyou" to the thousands of prince fans that visited angelo albani's site during last week).
i'll keep you informed

just got this from angelo albani's local head of promotion:
- the version of "nothing compares 2 u" will be posted on his website in the first week of april and will be an exclusive link only posted on this forum. there is no way to access it from the artist's homepage unless you already know the URL. this is actually a unique chance offered to prince.org readers in order to thank them for their support.

also, later in his message the head of promotion states they are investigating the existence of a videotape of angelo albani jamming with SONNY T and TOMMY BARBARELLA. if this tapes should prove of decent quality they will publish it on his website.

now, that's some good news!
