I thought that's what it would be.
.
.
But I'm guessing this will be like Family Jam and the "band" will probably consist of some common folks for all 3 with different lead singer (Morris, Paul and Jesse).
.
.
Prob 1 drummer (since Jellybean seems to prefer guitar now), maybe Oliver Lieber on guitar as well, common keybard players, common bass player etc. that's my guess.

Morris had to use the NPG as his band last year and he wasn't happy.

How did he express that unhappiness? |

During the on stage interview earlier in the day, in his Morris way of saying things, he said something along the lines that he would have liked playing with his own band.
On another note, I think it's lame that they are having him back AGAIN this year to play, even though it's with his own band.

This is barely two days worth of "events" spread over four days. The listening session isn't even a full hour, it's only 45 minutes! There's a panel on Saturday where they're gonna talk about the 2026 Celebration -- WTF is the point of that?
.
If I paid $1300 + travel costs + hotel costs + transportation costs I'd want at least an hour of unreleased audio each day, plus at least two hours of unreleased live footage each day. Instead you get a Gospel Brunch or a block party.
.
Also, Saturday morning it's an open house at PP, but you need to get there by yourself + leave in time for the "future plans" panel which is apparently somewhere in Minneapolis around noon. |

What is the point of hearing "never-before-released" material amongst a crowd of strangers? Also, just that one time in an environment that absolutly comprimises the sonics of the media?
.
In 2024 they even held a dance contest during that session, so plenty of people couldn't even properly hear some of the unreleased music.
.
Just imagine: you get to the most important event of the Celebration and the two dummies think they can improve on you hearing UNRELEASED PRINCE MUSIC by holding a dance competition and some people are actually hollering and whooping for the dancers and ruining this for you. |

it would be interesting to know how many people visit these celebrations.
i still can't believe this is the cash cow that many here seem to think it is.
400 people? 500 people? from some of the reviews I read previour years it didn't seem like paisley park was packed to the rafters.
after costs and everything they might make, what 300K ?
still, nice change, but nothing to compete with a good release in terms of (small but steady) income from streaming/licensing and (bigger) income from the initial release on various (collectable) formats.
if 300K from a celebration is worth it to keep doing them and the estate thinks that is nice change, why not then turn that change into more $ by investing a chunk of that in pressing limited vinyls of unreleased albums,
releasing a limited run of 10.000 Camille albums on vinyl for 25 bucks each would also amount to about 200K profit, right?
My son and i plan on being in the city but these prices are a bit steep for us! We're on a mission to find a more budget friendly event to celebrate Prince's Born Day! ♥ Feeling Purple Rain...Don't hold on 2 the pain, hold on 2 the memories ♥
My heart will go on...Celine Dion
I will always love you...Whitney Houston |

Just seen the timetable and its an absolute joke.
Under Gracelands Management, we got three nights of proper 90 min gigs at Prince's house.
With Londell in charge, last year, they cheapened it to two nights downtown.
And now, its one night, with 4 acts crammed into 3 hours.
The Saturday night 'event' is the streetparty, which is free to the public, and finishes at 10pm.
They've even abandoned the free shuttle buses between PP and Downtown on the Saturday.
As an international traveller, I wouldn't pay to fly over for this even if the event was free, let alone $800 for a GA ticket. . |

I’m quite interested in the panel on the 6th June:
11:30am-1:00pm Panel – Around the World in a Day: Bobby Z., Doug Henders & Laura LiPuma
I don’t think I’ve head or seen Laura LiPuma talk about the artwork for the Around The World In A Day album. Plus to have the artist Doug Henders to talk about should be insightful - if anyone is there ask him to recreate the cover with the Big Chick and tiger image. It would be amazing if they had Doug’s original artwork to exhibit to folks there, alongside all his Polaroids he took. [Edited 5/6/25 19:46pm] There may or may not be something coming! |

They've just announced that the June 6th shows will now be at Paisley Park (a good move imo - if I'm going there, I want to be in PP as much as possible). What was the venue before? |

They had not announced a venue before. That does give a clue about attendance. When Graceland was running it, they did 2 concerts each day at Paisley Park.

I think they saw my post above from a few days ago above . They moved it PP, extended the performance time and extended the street party to 1am. I think they moved the launch party from The W to First Avenue as well. Probably to make it an 'event', even though its normally open for dance night when a gig isn't on anyway.
They even have Morris promoting ticket sales now.
As you say, it used to require two shows a day to accomodate fans, now its one. Thats at least a 50% drop in attendance.
They have also combined the gold and purple VIP timetables to now fit them on the same day.
I'm guessing ticket sales have completely tanked and they are cancelling the theatre booking downtown and moving it to PP to minimize losses.
Didn't take long for the 'New Estate' to ruin the celebration.

I am not surprised they (the McMillions Estate) already ruined it in their first year.

How quickly after they're released do people normally buy tickets? For me, who hasn't been to PP post-2016, fewer people is probably a good thing (if I end up going). |

I hadn't noticed that. This is the first year that I haven't bought the package. Definitely not worth the cost. I am going to buy single day passes if they offer that this year. I really only want to see the unreleased concert footage and maybe the concert night.

The estate just put up a tickets for the Friday night, when all the live acts are playing, for $107.
That means GA are paying $650 dollars extra for 2 panels, a concert video, DJ party and inferior PP tour.
VIP ticket holders have paid $1200 dollars extra, for a concert video, 45 mins of unreleased recording playbacks, and a gospel brunch.
They have completely fucked the celebration going forward. . |

Just got my ticket for Friday night. I think the single day concert tickets last year were $175. Attendance has to be way down if they can't even fill Paisley Park soundstage for 1 show with the packages.

Fantastic. Glad you are going to get to enjoy the funk for such a good price!
As you point out, attendance must have dropped through the floor. One night on the soundstage was already a 50% drop on previous years. If they are now opening that night to day tickets, for only $107, when there are no other live music days, current sales must be dire.

No releases = very bad sales.
