The white vinyl for Hits 1 and Hits 2 is already sold out on Prince.com.

That was quick.

Yuck, whoever is in charge needs to be fired. How are the unreleased tracks, unfinished albums, the numerous live recordings, etc... have not been released or made available via a subscription service for us true fans of the music yet? We need an insider who can leak again.

Obviously this is underwhelming for people on the .org, but this is for Christmas shoppers.

It will be the #2 and #3 selling vinyl of his moving forward.

You may see it on the Vinyl charts for years to come. A great introduction to Prince for a new generation of music fans.

They should consider a box set with the b-sides. Or just release the B-sides seperately.

Next year Christmas vinyl will be "The Very Best of Prince"

As well as the original releases being on black vinyl, the German reissue of The Hits 1 from last year is also on black vinyl. I'm looking at it now. So how is this the first black vinyl release?

Release some more SDEs!!! That's what we REALLY want! I refuse to buy these colored vinyl reisssues.

Don’t most of us already have the 12” mixes from Ultimate on vinyl, i.e. from when they were originally released? There’s some of the other extended versions that haven’t been released on CD that could be, e.g. the 21 minute version of America, the disco mixes of Soft & Wet and Just As Long As We’re Together, and a couple or so others. They’re on my list of wants.

The 21 minute version of America got a CD release on Black Archive: Minneapolis Funk, although it has a roughly 10 second earlier fade out.

I was only aware of the 2020 reissue of The Hits 1 being purple vinyl, but maybe I missed a version... I'm presuming they meant to say it's the first time the black vinyl versions have been "repressed" rather than just "pressed". So, a proofreading error. It looks like they've corrected that in the most recent Prince Store email I've received...

I thought America on there was just a vinyl transfer, other tracks though being sourced from masters! Was there a fade out to allow it to fit on?

yes it was just a vinyl transfer and not even a good one.

That's been their M.O. for about 2 years now, with the exception of Welcome 2 America (which I had little interest in, but at least it was something new)

I hope US only releases aren't a trend going forward. I'm a completionist and like to have everything on CD and vinyl and I'm missing The Hits 2 on vinyl but shipping costs meant this is the first one I've had to skip on unfortunately.

I've had to slow down recently and save some money. I'm still missing some rarities but my collection is about 80% complete. I keep an extensive database of every version of every track and which release it can be found on which took many many hours to put together.
