Where's all the stickies lol

Maybe the moderators misundestood the request to remove the warning texts and thought we were talking about the stickies.

You may be right. Though I guess the stickies were dead too.

I’m glad to see the back of all those stickies!

Remove the wall of text and overblown rules (which conclude with a link to go and read the ACTUAL rules !?!?!) and the forum would be so much more approachable.

I can understand that many of us would like a proper redesign, and I’m fully behind that. But I think there is a quick win in removing the text wall. I genuinely believe it might actually improve the tone of discussion.

So I just checked out Lipstick Alley, and ... I really dislike that design. Ugh. It's way to busy. But it does have some nice functionality, and it's pretty active. One nice thing is that it appears that thread don't autolock after a certain number of days. I like that for sure.

.

Anyway, yes, the Org is kind of outdated, but I like it. The site is pretty simple and effective, for what it is. Vitriol has decreased, imo, compared to 3 or 4 years ago. The issues with pictures and links are a bit annoying, but the site keeps going with apparently minimal upkeep which is great.

.

Also, thank you to the mods who do a good job. You keep the place going. It's moslty thankless work, and the problematic mods don't make it any easier for you.

.

Btw, how do you become a mod?

This site is basically abandoned, folks.
The software could have been updated years ago so that when someone quotes, it doesn't show an entire page of old replies (because no one here knows how to cut and paste).
The link capabilities are gone, we can't even paste in images.

There's no need to redesign; they just need to update the software. If you want to see a newer, identical forum, go over to Lipstick Alley to see the new version.

I know, but I like The Org the way it is. smile

Yep, it's dead.

Makes me so frigging sad. But take heart - there is still stuff going on here.
