The grief of the new fan.

I became a Prince fan not long ago, and now I feel like I'm in the grieving phase, there are days when I feel inconsolable... I know there is nothing I can do but wait until my grief is over, so I wrote this post just to ease the pain and find some empathy. rainbo

How many of you feel like me?

I feel sad that I'm a millenial and didn't get to experience 80's Prince. How did you discover Prince ?

I was a fan of Prince my entire life and will remain one forever. I grew up in a house that loved Prince before I was born.

No. You're consolable enough to post and edit on the Org.

I wonder if people who have just discovered Elvis, or George Michael, or Michael Jackson go through such a pseudo-grief process years after someone has died.

You say you are a new prince fan and you are in grief. Talk to your doctor!

Get well soon.

@chuvara: I understand what you mean. You're just part of a newer generation of Prince fam. Many of us have already gone through it. But there are others now and who will, so you are not alone.

One great thing about the Org is you can go back and see posts from when we all went through it. Some lifelong fam stayed for that first few months then left - it seems they couldnt bear it, or needed to grieve elsewhere, or just tried to "stay in "real life". Most of us stayed though.

Boy, the days when the Associated Artists Forum was on fire. We talked for 2 years about which woman prince loved the most. The arguing got serious. biggrin

And every single article we could find was posted on PMAM.

There are great FB groups where there are newer fam too.

And sorry for the cruel posts you received here - some don't seem to be in their hearts.

The fact that you and perhaps some other new Prince fans have grief about him is a good thing even though it may not feel that way. New fans are what will keep Price relevant in the future once he original fans die out. What would be sadder to me than no new music is a world in which his music is no longer cherished.

The first song i heard, here in Brazil, was... Purple Rain! smile

I listened to the radio as a child, in the 90's, that's when I heard Prince songs for the first, second, third time lol. Unfortunately prince was not successful in my country, so I paid attention to him only many years later, in 2006, as a curious listener of good music. But I only became a fan this year, for inexplicable reasons, which I credit to the mysteries of life. Prince has completely entered my heart and feelings. <3

Thank you so much for the kind words, I owe attention to people like you! heart

To the others, I say what my mother always says: bad letters don't deserve to be answered.

I would like to write more often, but my english is weak, that's why I will write less often. But here I have read many interesting discussions, and this will certainly keep me connected to you brothers. yes

Probably will always be a sadness in my heart over this because of how it happened. Like if his inner circle would have called the addiction doctor sooner, if stupid drug dealers wouldn't lace pills with Fentanyl, if only he could of had living children and been happier, if he hadn't had such hip pain from trying to entertain us....I could go on for days. It just shouldn't have happened, an extraordinary artist taken from us too soon. (I am listening to Side 2 of 1999 as I write this...)

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

if stupid drug dealers wouldn't lace pills with Fentanyl,

If it was proven that it's what they did, they would have been charged for murder don't you think ?
