Thanks for the recommendations!
Harts seems pretty cool-maybe doesn't have the big tunes but the dude can definitely play some chops on the guitar!

I've actually reminded myself of one too...Jamie Lidell.
A massive Prince fan too and his Compass lp is brilliant.

Eefje De Visser is fantastic though ! "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

Absolutely! That song is sooooooooo good. Where Prince wanted to be perfect/have perfection al over his later recordings, Jack White is a master in his own interpretation of sloppyness in sound/ rawness in production, and freshness is writing. The record industry once had a vision for good music, but it developed into money machines of all kinds of bad taste. Still there might be (a) guy(s) like Prince popping up again. No one really knows for sure of course. Today, for me, there is none.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the last sentence. It seems genuine superstars aren't encouraged or allowed to grow any more. There was a time when an artist would develop and grow over several albums before hitting the jackpot. These days it seems you have to be a vital sensation singing a cover and that's it. I guess those of us who grew up with Prince,Madonna,Bruce,Mj etc in our teens really had the best of it. I will definitely check out everyone's recommendations but would love to find someone who really encompasses pop/funk/electro whilst playing a mean guitar and bass too. The era of music that Prince lived in and had to fight through was imho the best there was. Think about this; Music - Pop & Rock etc - as we here all know it is actually still very young. What... 60/70 year old maybe ? This is how I see it; Once upon a time black people brought/ sadly had to drag rhythm and blues overseas with them to the new Americas, while the new conquerers of America still played their own folk music and ditto dances threy brought from the Old World. Rock 'n roll distilled from that later on, moved overseas to the UK where pop music really was invented the way we/most of us know it by heart (now). Pop & Rock underwent many genres in the UK (EU and America influenced included, but mostly invented in the UK - let's be honest). In the eighties pop went back and forth to the US with influences from the EU etc. Then came MTV who heavily influced pop music, right from the States. Then there was the internet and all it's developments, and you did not really had to learn an instrument (anymore) to make any sorts of music. At the same time in the late eighties the industry moved 'down' to machine-ready-made-matrixed light hits brought to us by the good looks of boys and girls bands, with basically few musical talents. All that driven and decided by men in suits only looking at tables, charts, graphs, just to gain (more) money than ever. So nowadays music is everywhere. Revivals are faster than seconds. In an advertisement driven society, music has become somehow subordinate. Music festivals that started to become huge from the early seventies on, are nowadays 'events' where music is a background element to spice up experiences. Live performances since the videoclip age has become more of a theatrical performance than a musical experience from musicians who play instruments; you really wanted to see what they could play and how they brought their recordings to live, dancing was optional. (We listened more to live shows in the seventies. Remember 'live' albums?) (And I did not even mentioned the influece of the revivals of musicals on contemporary pre-chewed music...) With knowing all that, the music industry was able to pull all the strings just up to the mid nineties. They had a good decade in the seventies where they provided the world with pretty much good and talented music, chosen and pushed by them (more or less). Then pop or rock or whatever music could be made and developed by everyone on computers, and thrown on the internet, hoping to make it. Also gave possibilities to new unpopular genres as underground and noise etc, but they mostly stayed there. Music in general today is reduced in addition to our image driven societies. We live more in an image driven world than in an informative world (imho). Information is being believed as false or untrue or fake... just like most of the music of this age - to me. Anyways... So pop music as you like has more or less come to a sort of slow dying end, but it actually will never dissapear. It will remain excisting and re-developping though the evolution of technolgy - possibly, or not. So guys with the talents of Prince might appear again one day, but it will be different in all it's forms and use.

Following him on Spotify and Youtube His debut album "Daydreamer" (2014) was amazing...the Prince influence was strong on that one...Harts said it was after that lp that P summoned hin to come to Paisley Park to work together, but P passed not to long after...similar situation as Mononeon. another great young talent

. - Yeah, this song has a strong Prince vibe (and not in an obvious way). I think Jack White is a creative force and a real artist.
