I haven’t listened to this set in a decade. So this was a fun little endeavor.

Well, fun is relative. I listened to both CDS, and was only mildly impressed. Lotus seems to be the stronger disk, and MPLS is about 40% listenable.

I could probably whittle both down into one semi-cohesive disk.

I don't understand the Camille-esque voice on a couple of tracks, nor why "Ol' Skool Company" is so bloody long. I hate the song, "Crimson and Clover," but I can deal with Prince's version. Slightly.

This was certainly not Emancipation Pt II.

It'll probably be another decade before I listen to them again. If at all.

That's 2 that called Skool long. Prince fans don't know a groove when they hear it.

Definately NOT ol' school company.

Doesn't anyone just put all Prince compositions on a random playback anymore?

It's much more fun that way.

Much more fun.

HHMMPPFF.

Yes.

Fun.

I loved Lotusflower and still do. I don't skip anything...they are all great. But my faves are Boom, Colonized Mind, Wall of Berlin, $, and Dreamer.

MPLSound was the lesser of the two, but had its moments. It was a cheese-fest over all, but thats ok. Cheese can be fun lol.

I completely forgot about Bria's CD until someone mentioned it here.

Both albums. (I don't consider Bria's album worth of mentioning beyond this sentence.)

Sometimes I'll shuffle all Prince stuff. Most times, I want a mood, and a Prince album can give me that.

No one else into Ol' Skool Company? It's the only song on the albums I love. When he starts soloing (I'm think it's guitar, but it's so distorted it sounds synthy), my eyes roll back, I get the stank face, etc.
It's definitely the best track on MPLSound imo. The only songs I don't like on that album are Chocolate Box, Dance 4 Me and No More Candy 4 U but I like all songs on Lotusflow3r.

They might sink your boat, but those songs float mine. I really only hated track one despite it's now emotive title.

I love LotusFlow3r, but don't much care for MPLSound even though it has a few good tracks.

As someone posted already, MPLSound sounds lifeless, uninspired . . . whereas LotusFlow3r is fantastic almost from start to finish. 4Ever and Wall Of Berlin being the only two songs that drag the set down a bit IMO.

And I don't think I listed to Elixer more than twice when it came out. He was definitely going for a "bundle" with bargain pricing too to drive up sales.

Hmmm....maybe it's been said already but does anyone hear similarities between Prince's From the Lotus... and Santana's Eternal Caravan of Reincarnation (minus the crickets of course)?

MPLSound's first two tracks are uninspired and Ol' Skool Company goes on a bit and sounds better live for sounding smoother. Elixer on the whole is forgettable but has its moments. Everytime and Another Boy are keepers

LotusFlow3r is a brilliant album and Wall of Berlin is superb with sublime guitar. Recorded in addition to 10 or so other tracks on one certain day back in 2004. Take that, Prince haters!

I keep going back to that guitar solo in Wall Of Berlin. Now THAT is genius.

Same. So too the guitar solo in Dreamer.
