And I'm totally cool with people having different opinions but don't just have them use them. You see it conventional R&B? I LOVE conventional R&B what conventional means, like Kenny G boring ish? People are acting however I feel like stating they are acting nobody should pay my opinions any mind except main idea why not talk about Bria it's not like she's a bootleg or something Welcome to "the org", heartpeacesheart…

. Love this song - probalby my favourite in this album. I remember the time when I had collection on shuffle and Ol' Skool Company was followed by DMSR - So good. Also love the Leno version. The great backup singers. I think the harmonica player goes off during the performance too. I thought he was wild and added a lot. (I may be conflating it with another Leno appearance.) All the Leno appearances were the best. I wish Leno would leave his cars alone for a minute and not forget how much we appreciate having Prince on any shows really. Ellen and Leno have moved on but not from everything right? Tell Leno I know a place he'd enjoy visiting if he would honor me with an interview. I don't know what Ellen likes but she is invited too. What is the Bris album called. Cuz I only see 2 named releases. See nobody will even say the name and I don't care if I only really REALLY listened to crimson and clover, and box of chocolates and I didn't even listen to the stuff performed on Leno or Ellen because unless you are in person with Prince who's trying to listen? TV appearances were for watching. Anyway I still stand behind the point that not even Prince HIMSELF could recreate the MPLS sound. It damn sure isn't about harmonicas. But before I go any further get some lunch and come back really prepared to not like my posts. I happen to like all y'all posts. If Bria doesn't like her demo I'll freaking do something with it dang. Update: Yeah, I prefer the ONA version.. not sure about those string flourishes in the newer version. Still, I have soft spot for this song. Probably one of those Prince tracks that I skipped for ages until suddenly I fell for it. I could make a long mix of those.

I never accepted the fact that these two albums were packed together. They are SO different, and, while Lotus Flow3r is very well produced, with great band work and guitar playing (and some cool songs), MPLSound, to me, is sketchy and not even worthy of being a proper album (feels more like one of those for-diehard-fans internet releases). . And this "3 albums in one package" thing made Lotus - one of his most cohesive albums since Rainbow Children - overlooked. .

Thanks Lurker316. As you mentioned that this and all of his albums have geen discussed many times. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this thread as it was fun to talk about an album again.

Jay, why make Emma jump like that? Just introduce the Purple One quietly enough. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

I think one big reason 'Lotus Flow3r' sounds great is the fact that many basic tracks were recorded with the New Power Trio. I.E. "From The Lotus..." is very reminicent of the unreleased coda to "Dolphin". Some leftovers from those sessions were then released on 'Planet Earth', like the title track. I still like Gemini & protegé packaging, a Target exlusive! "Whatever skin we're in

. TRUE! That From the lotus / coda to Dolphin can be heard in the beginning of The Undertaker too. . Michael and Sonny are my fave bandmembers and I wish those sessions were put in the same album

Forgot to say this, but Lotus Flow3r is one of those Prince albums that are specially great if you listen to it with earphones, paying attention to all details and not doing nothing else to distract. Other albums in this category are ´The Rainbow Children´ and ´Hit N Run Phase Two´. For those who never tried, I recommend.

I agree with this too but I'll have to use headphones on HNR Phase Two. Same can be said for W2A too. That solo in Wall Of Berlin is a great example. There is at least another guitar soloing-ish (maybe two) underneath that top solo.

I think I listened to "Wall Of Berlin" about 50 times in a single week last year. The guitar and drums are just incredible and delicious. May U Live 2 See The Release of Parade SDE

I haven’t listened to this set in a decade. So this was a fun little endeavor. Getting the brief stuff out of the way, I actually slugged through Elixir. Something U Already Know and the title track were decent. The rest was unlistenable. MPLS Isn’t worth getting into a track by track analysis. It’s nowhere near Hit-and-Run part one bad, but it is definitely in the very lower rung of Prince albums. I must say I was extremely happy with the majority of Lotus. 4Ever felt like Justin Bieber, 77 Beverly was a little too quaint, and Dreamer is so voodoo Chile derivative it’s a bit much. But the rest of the album has a great combination of quirkiness and pure fire. It’s a super solid album. I particularly love Boom, Colonized, Wall of Berlin and $…. Thanks for the thread idea and giving the inspiration to revisit!
