Birth to Controversy 1999 to Parade SOTT to Symbol Come to Rainbow Children Musicology to Lotus The rest. But who the fuck is gonna watch a 6 hour documentary except us nerds?

Well if they can have 85 Beatles documentaries on their 7 years of being together they can afford to do a 6 episode series.

I think they’re going to look at it more as a narrative than a chronology. Focus more on events than years. For example, they might end on a cliffhanger where Under the Cherry Moon flops and he disbands the Revolution. Make casual fans want to watch the next episode to see how he’ll get himself out of this mess.

Part 1

Birth to his first record contract.

Part 2

For You - 1999

Documents his rising stardom.

Part 3

Purple Rain

Yes, the entire episode devoted to Purple Rain.

Part 4

ATWIAD, Parade, and Under the Cherry Moon.

“With slumping record sales and a box office flop, Prince disbands the Revolution. What will he do now?”

Part 5

SOTT through Graffiti Bridge.

More hits, #1 album with Batman, and rolls the dice on a new movie. “Oh, no! Another flop.”

Part 6

D&P and Love Symbol.

Back on top. Signs $100 million deal with WB. Meets Mayte Garcia.

Part 7

Slave!

The name change, the marriage to Mayte, losing their child, the divorce, the JW years. “Prince is lost.”

Part 8

The Musicology comeback to his death. Basically, glosses over everything in between. Weird amount of time devoted to Superbowl performance.

Things for us caused concern we didn’t grant permission for footage to be used in the end.

Can you elaborate ? Were they turning it into a tabloid?

From the feedback I’ve heard from several sources and from what we experienced ourselves …yes.

I really don’t care, as long as the 90s/00s don’t get brushed over as Prince’s “wandering years”. I’m sick & tired of the whole narrative about The Revolutions era being his best, at this point in time; it’s false, lazy and corny as hell.

Yes. I agree. He make a lot of great music post 90s and 00s. It all makes u a great body of work.

The 90's and beyond... which propobably, even more possibly nobody else but the (die hard) fans are interested in. Let's hope I'm/ we are wrong.

But m ost likely it'll be all about Prince becoming the Prince we all know.

Beginning with past and his life story, just up beyond his late '80s hay-days, the movie PR.

Then most possibly some mentioned extras bout his marriages, name change, industry dispute, jehova witness, the return with 'Musicology', and the last couple of albums, 3rdEyeGirl, the piano tour and biography.

Certainly a part about his death (and health) and what came after it.

-

I also wish they would spend more time on his last 25/30 years. Now more than ever I believe it's becoming even important and relevant (at least to us).

But expect the usual, a comprehensible documentary for the masses.

Let's hope I'm wrong about all this.

Maybe it's just me and my jacked up technology resources but when I try and reply with quote the code looks like somebody wrote out the code for quantum physics. That being said, one of you better figure out that code and get some weird science action happening pronto.

I think you missed out on an important part of his image...

Meaning "The Dirty Mind" era, with the bikini briefs, high stockings, the gender game, etc.

An important first element that defined his image. Plus the shock value that came with it.

I mean, that sort of made him popular in club circuits, as a live artist.

And he was picked up by the media for that too.

He wanted to be seen (and heard of course).

I've seen lots of chatter, even vitriol, much of directed at Neal Karlen for a tweet he has since deleted (I missed the original tweet). Can't quite piece it together, other than ppl having lots of opinions.

Any idea what it said?

Oh oh oh oh I had a thought about the Netflix thing.

People seem to be scoffing at the idea of it. Is it because it's probably going to be very myth busting and people don't want to be disillusioned anymore?

You know what I mean about Netflix. They get to the bottom of stuff like who is General Tso. I have to admit I was curious.

Maybe I just felt like sharing today.
I haven't reread the posts so this should be interesting.
