I seem to remember they were friends in the mid to late 80s and in the recent years before Prince passed. I know nothing about the 90s.

Madonna was working hard to keep her movie career going in the '90's so there's no way she would have jeapordized that by taking up the fight against record contracts with Prince.

Gonna add that it makes a lot of sense that Prince chose Madonna to help him.idk for sure but I think her record sales were hurting until "Ray of light" was released.
I think it was her big comeback of sorts
Plus she one of his peers

She had a number one single in 1994, and again in 2000, and in the 5 years in between she put out 4 top ten hits.

Yes possibly, I agree. We don't know for sure. But unlike some ppl on here with their definitive "No", I do believe they actually were friends (and even possibly one time lovers).

Lovers? lol.

You mean they fucked? What a hilarious thought. Madonna probably turned Prince all the way off. Since when did he ever like women with that strong of a personality?

That could have been a naked pic of Prince instead of vanilla ice in her book

So true.Prince preferred women that he could control. There's no way that he could be in a relationship with a strong, powerful woman who has her own career and big fame.

Still,I bet they slept together at least once, lol

If "Dinner with Delores" is an indication, I don't necessarily believe they fucked. They could've, but I just don't see it as likely. And did they date or just hang out trying to make some music? Given that she hated the script, wrote a lackluster lovesong with him and split town after a very, very short time, coupled with his "eww" looks on the VH1 special where one of her videos is playing - I'd surmise that there wasn't a lot of intimate love between them, and not a lot of love lost otherwise.

They didn't hate each other, greatly respected each other as people and artists (Madonna has admitted to fashioning much of her career moves on his), but I don't necessarily believe they've fucked.

Taurus Sheena Easton commented back in the day: "If Prince slept with
everyone he worked with, collaborated with, was a colleague, he would
not have time to compose music, work!".

Many men are controlling, especially in the music/entertainment
industry- everyone and their grandmother knows that duhhh!

I remember Michael B. saying Prince defended Madonna after Michael B made remarks about her singing ability. He said P really respected her as a song writer and artist and said “she knows music” pointing to all of her hit singles as proof she was a legit talent.

lol...has it ever been confirmed that "Dinner With Delores" is really about Madonna? biggrin I'm wondering if a band member or associate has ever talked about this.
