Measurements

Does anyone know what princes measurements were? I spent so long looking at his clothes at the traveling exhibition a few years back and ofc he prob had more of a belly at 50 something than 20 something but I often look at him and wonder.

By measurements I meant collar, waist, inside leg.. Nothing rude!

I recall reading in an article that included a picture of the body form that his seamstress used to make his clothes that he was a perfect size 6 (US woman's size). here are the measurements for that:

The measurements according to a U.S. Misses size chart for a size 6 is Bust: 34.5"-35"; Waist: 26.5"-27" and Hips: 36.5"-37".

The only measurement I know of is when Oprah asked him how big his waist was and he said 25. The autopsy report mentioned his height and weight, but I didn't care so I can't recall.

According to archivists who documented his clothing after he died, the blue cloud suit had a 22-1/2" waist, which seems much more accurate than 26-27". That was 1985.

He was very thin in the mid-1990s.

A very petite male would wear a size 28, or 29 waist. His pants were painted on him, so it's possible he wore a 27, but any less and he'd have looked like he had a disorder instead of being the fit male he was. The length would be adjusted with heels, and if they were scrunch or flared, but a 27 would be about right, give or take an inch depending on the cut. That said, I remember reading he had a smaller inseam, which is just hard to grasp, no pun intended. He both shared clothes with petite 105 lb. women, and dated someone 5'8" in those years, so I'm inclined to think his appearance as a healthy fit male counts for something and he wasn't at the bottom of that scale.

Another thing about the costumes showing up, those measurements are for materials that changed with the shape, and had stretch/cinch. Some of them were meant to have his chest popping out.

The fact that we've seen designs but no measurements on them leads me to believe he was guarded about it and we're walking a fine line.

Didn't he give his waiste size during the Oprah interview? I beieve it was 27 (or 29) and Oprah commented along the lines like "it must be nice" or something like that.

Boom.. straight from his mouth.

Absolutely appreciated all these answers and interpretations, especially the actual measurements given. A size 6 US I think is a size 10 UK. It must have been challenging for him being 5 foot 2 and having to keep a certain way as I imagine when you're smaller it must be harder as there is less of you to spread the weight?

The tailoring part makes a lot of sense. Had anyone 3lse I am.sure most have been up close with the stage costumes? So much cinch and flare as you put it. Intricate artwork. Beautiful!

That's what the size charts show, but a size 6 can be a pretty normal healthy size for a 5'2" petite woman, who will have natrually fuller hips, so I wonder if it's more confusing to think of it that way because he clearly was compact compared to even Wendy and Lisa.

It's true, when you're smaller and your metabolism changes, 5-8lbs can be like someone elses covid 20lbs. Prince was athletic and then later in life cut out most proteins but he had good private chefs too. He apparently liked junk food sweets and pancakes, but he kept a weird diet overall, with a combo of Walgreens and health food store food in the house at the very end.

I believe the size 6 would be for his tops, so shoulder pads could be added. He was very narrow under the rib cage and through the hips. He had lots of Haagen Daz ice cream, fresh fruit, eggs, and Raisin Bran.
