New documentary "Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James" features two previously unknown photos of Prince

If you're wondering whether the new documentary "Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James" mentions Prince: yes it does. There is a short section about their rivalry from around 1:13-1:16, and it features previously unseen backstage photos.
.
The whole documentary is available through Showtime: https://www.sho.com/title...rick-james

Have the documentary set on my DVR.Going to watch it tomorrow mostly for the prince vs rick James feud.I like Rick james, but it's mostly due to the Dave Chappelle skits.
Nonetheless it is going to be a great documentary

Update-I just watched it.I enjoyed it a lot
I really didn't know rick james was that talented.
It is a shame at how powerful drugs can be and that they ruin lives.I enjoyed the insight on the prince and rick james rivalry, but it was nothing new that most didn't already know and the pics they showed are the same ones on the net but seem to be in higher quality
I am now considering exploring rick james discography

Be sure to look up Rick's Mary Jane Girls and the work he did with the Tina Marie and Temptations. Rick was a very talented musician and, like Prince, helped others along the way. It really is too bad how much the drugs affected his life.

It was his lifestyle choice though. That in itself is fine with me. Hurting and torturing other people is not cool though. Seems like Rick just lost his mind at that point. That last half hour was just grim. The after credit scene with his daughter and grand daughters did nothing to garner sympathy for me. They're family, it's expected.. Great songs by a talented asshole. So what? Still an asshole.

To be fair, many of the great, talented artists had personal issues and demons they were battling with.Rick was no exception.Drugs can ruin lives and careers,in more ways than one.

It's a great docu for a casual fan. As someone who already knows a fair amount about Rick, I was hoping for a deeper dive than what we got but I still enjoyed it. It's very well put together barring a few minor flaws; would recommend to anybody who's a fan already or interested in learning more of him.

The animated computer graphics scenes were ROUGH, but overall I thought this was a good documentary. It wasn't just Superfresk > drugs > Chappelle, they spent a good amount of time on his early career. The only thing I would've liked to see was more coverage of his individual albums, they really didn't cover them other than CAGI and Street Songs, but overall much better than I expected.

.

I laughed my ass off at the scene that became the straw that broke the camel's back for Motown, Kerry Gordy can tell a story! lol

Yes, those were an unfortunate choice.

.

I loved the early part about his life in Canada. I knew about him working with Neil Young etc. and that is still such a strange episode in his life.

I never knew Rick James and Neil Young were in a band together. That blew my tiny little mind.

Damn right! nod In the original edition of his autobiography, originally titled, The Confessions of Rick James: Memoirs of a Super Freak, Rick goes raw and uncut in his tell all. He even mention Teena Marie's bisexually AND that story about his failed attempt in giving Prince some Cognac.

.

But since that book is out of print, you can still get a copy of Glow: The Autobiography of Rick James, which is one Rick wrote with David Ritz. It's a more polished read. But most of the outrageous stories are still there.
