Does anyone know if he had kept that guitar?

I don't remember, off hand, seeing it in the police photos of Paisley Park. But that doesn't mean it wasn't somewhere else.

I don't think it's in the Paisley Park Guitar book either.

Thanks to each of you for your input. That would be a nice item to put on display at PP.

I think Andre said in interviews of the last couple of years that he still has that VOX guitar (it was kind of like a joint owned/shared thing)

Just somewhere in the middle,

Makes sense. I imagine this was when he was living with Andre and the sister on the keys.

This is not acurrate to the statement (in Reflection) that they'd "compare whose afro was the roundest" cuz our boy Skipper would get beat like a drum in these photos.

Until I find the righteous one...

Footage from the event:

https://collections.mnhs....n=10536910

You can kinda see the band from 0:23-0:34. Anybody know the song they are playing?

Does this make it the earliest known footage of Prince?

Right it is! He is 16 here.

Just wow. Lovely to hear his voice even for a few seconds.

That's amazing to find footage of such a random, early event in his life.

The song they were singing was Wildflower by New Birth

Terry Jackson said on FB that he believes it is him singing in the clip.

I can't help but wonder if there is more footage of this performance out there somewhere...

And in a mere decade, he'd be the biggest fucking star on the planet, arguably bigger than Michael Jackson at that moment.

It's mind blowing to see this. His voice just isn't much different near the end of his life than it is in this video.

I know it is just a small view into that era but I really like that the photos show an area that is not splattered with adverts and corporate signs.

Bernadette Anderson was on the board of the Ruth Hawkins YWCA at that time so when there was to be a demolition ceremony with the mayr and uppy-ups, she enlisted her son and his bandmates to perform.
For years, these photos were "lost" because the band was identified only as "The Ruth Hawkins Band" (from the name of the YWCA building). Big kudos to whomever unearthed them.

I haven't been able to determine the exact date of this event but it was obviously summer in Minneapolis, so Prince was either 15 or 16.
I've been wondering who the woman is who seems to be talking to P. It's not Linda Anderson (sitting at the keyboard) and it's obviously not Bernadette. Since Morris is at the drumgs, is it possible we're seeing Morris Day's mother here? She did some management of Grand Central for awhile and was described as a hottie.

If you look closely at the crowd photo, there is a film camera just on the edge of the photo. Film possibly does exist of this.

Puhlease contact me if you have this video.
