They could do a book on just a list of the vault no frills ... they could do a book with ALL the lyrics .. eye would buy both .. some language about the wally release left me the impression they may be saving the original wally for a later milking .. sure wish they would not tinker with the vault beyond minor volume adjustments short of any addition compression

I wanted to buy it, but didn't because I was in debt at the time of release and it would have been an irresponsible purchase.

Haha it's never too late and it's great it's sill in print. And it is sold cheaper than before.
Don't know why, I have the impression it was released 2 years ago, and 1999 3 years ago.

SOTT is not only my favorite Prince album, it's my favorite album from anyone, period. I've listened to it thousands of time (and tangentially, I've watched the film at least 100 times).

Recent history: I got PRD and 1999:SDE as gifts, but they were very reasonably priced. PR:D wasn't all that great but had good Vault tracks, but 1999:SDE was amazing.

Jump forward to 2020 and SOTT:SDE is announced. I'm excited, but the pricetag and loss of income due to COVID squashed that excitement. Had it been $100, I would have gotten it. But at the time it was $150 which seemed really excessive.

It was also on Spotify and Apple Music, so the need to "purchase" wasn't as urgent as when Prince was alive.

Luckily, a friend who received the LP boxset for Christmas (and doesn't mess with downloads) gave me her digital code.

SOTT:SDE is the first Prince release I have not purchased.

The price for the SDE was expensive but I bought the CD's and a Prince protege sent to me the LPs.

For me, price was not the issue. I had it preordered.
.
I don’t think the quality (or generally lack there of) of the outtakes do Prince’s legacy any justice.
.
Having bought the PR and 1999 deluxes, I decided I just didn’t want to partake in the bowel movements anymore.
.
The final deciding factor was the incorrect speed they issued the Sign live concert in. Unforgivable and inexcusable.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

I bought all of the releases upto and including SOTT SDE, but the poor effort that is going into the CD options means I'm going digital from here on in. I'm fortunate in that money isn't a problem, but I still expect good value and the W2A deluxe is way off the mark.

Now that I'm going digital here on in, I might even off load all of my physical collection.

I don't understand this. It takes a couple minutes to rip a CD in whatever quality you like, from FLAC to 320kbps MP3, anything... Amazon's autorip files are lower quality MP3, not even 320kbps. Who wants that?

I usually download the autorip while waiting for the CD to arrive, then delete the files and make my own when I get the disc.

Everything takes forever when you have kids.

My "kid" is 31. When she was a kid it took all night just to download a file from the NPGMC, much less convert it and burn it to disc. I somehow found the time.

Didn't buy it yet. Couldn't justify the price. 1999, to me, was done and priced right. I'm sure when I have a surplus of case I will pick up Sign; it keeps going down in price on Amazon.

Hi. Just bear in mind that if you do decide to go digital, the SDE's so far have not included any pdf's of a booklet or digital video files.
