PRINCE MAKEUP - Live Loud in Color by Urban Decay - Available May 27

who's excited? anyone excited for this? i know we're all very excited. we're all big cosmetic product fans. i know that the second i saw prince's cosmetic routine, i was hooked as a fan. it's the reason i followed him so closely all those years, the fucking makeup.

honestly kind of glad that the estate is finally getting to what really matters here. i don't know what the fuck they were thinking releasing those music package "deluxe editions" or whatever, seems though that they finally have a firm grasp on what us, the fans, really want and i guess that's what matters. hopefully we can get more information on stuff like prince's shoes or how he liked his coffee in the morning, you know, the stuff that really matters.

[Update edit: luv4u]
Coming May 27

Dig, if you will, a picture of a Prince-inspired makeup collection. Smoky eyeliners, velvety eye shadows, setting powder, and more find a home in gilded leather packaging — all doused in his signature purple and emblazoned with the "Love Symbol," of course. Thanks to Urban Decay and Damaris Lewis, a model and dancer who worked closely with the late musician, that vision has become a reality… for now.

Together, Lewis, Urban Decay, and Prince's estate have collaborated on a limited-edition, seven-piece makeup collection in memory of him and his most iconic works. As Damaris tells Allure, each of these products embodies Prince's work in a different and very special way. "The key elements of Prince's music and personality that Urban Decay brought to this collection, in my opinion, are quality, intention, practice, and not fitting in," she explains.

I've been a hair stylist since the prince album (which is a perfectly valid way to measure time by denoting a Prince album release). I just started learning makeup January 2020. It's a very fun hobby.

Urban Decay is a good brand. Not the best. I think Anastasia BH, Jeffree Star (still love Blood Sugar, Conspiracy, Orgy, and Cremated), Morphe, MAC, Revolution, Tatcha, and others are better. Even that little asshole James Charles had a good base palette with Morphe. I stay away from Too Faced (because that's exactly what they are). Some of those Urban Decay palettes are a bit repetitive, but they have good packaging (which is a big part of makeup world to many).

I think it's an interesting move and certainly one that fits the overall aesthetic of the estate. They're diversifying their product line, and the makeup line won't last forever so it becomes more special by being limited.

And despite everyone's lines, I still buy and use that Mabelline pink and green mascara that my mother used to use, too. It's amazeballs.

i'm not great at makeup. Some lewks have been better than others, but I rocked the shit out of that Royal Blood purple palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics last year. People thought the palette was "dusty," but the colors are actually really good on the skin.

Anyone remember that "invisibile foundation" last year by... I forget who. What a stupid ass product.

Can't wait!!

5h ·
The Prince Estate and Urban Decay Cosmetics are pleased to present "Live Loud in Color," an exclusive limited-edition capsule inspired by the creative genius and personal style of Prince. Available May 27 at UrbanDecay.com.

The Prince x Urban Decay Cosmetics collection was designed in close collaboration with key members of Prince’s artistic camp, including creative director Trevor Guy; Prince's beloved muse and close friend Damaris Lewis; and the esteemed photographer Randee St. Nicholas.

“‘Living loud in color’ means doing what you want and feeling everything you feel, regardless of what society dictates,” says the actress, model, and dancer Damaris Lewis. "I hope it inspires you to make your own rules, just as Prince did for so many decades.”

Let me keep you company then!

I felt the same way when I first saw this. I get the Estate has bills to pay, but this just seems embarrassing. The promo for it sounds like it's really a Damaris Lewis thing, who is riding on Prince's coat tails. His "beloved muse." Ok. Some chick he had around the last few years of his life.

When Prince first passed away, I wanted everything Prince related. I bought some lipsticks from Nars that were named after Prince songs. Expensive, not that great, and a waste of money. I'm interested to see what the Urban Decay thing looks like, but it'll probably be expensive and something I would never even use.

Even with some of the Estate clothing items--Like, I really wanted the Sign O' The Times joggers and t shirt. But total price was $75. Can't do it.

I'll gladly keep buying the music though.

Makes me wonder...If Prince was still with us, would he be more into marketing himself nowadays? I'm thinking if he had continued with his trend of surrounding himself with way-too-young people, he probably would have started doing something or other to market himself besides showcasing his music.

well i was in the middle of creating a post doing just that and the window was closed on me so now i'm here to retype what i was in the middle of and that was a call and response by saying no amount of makeup is going to get me into wanting to wear the fruit roll up vests i saw on the store section. Not only that, I'm not going to lie if I had to be in charge of product placement for the new makeup it would be hard to decide whether to put it under face coverings or home goods. I'm seriously just as happy buying something from the Dior Rouge collection but I spent a lot of my money already. Back to the website, trust me when I tell you don't spend too much time staring at the home page, it'll compell you like it did me to visit. visit. visit. visit. and then it reminded me of one of those internet maze games like don't touch the edge except that just when you think you've come upon a siezure sensitive site, it's actually the opposite and very calming. sort of like back to basics suddenly it's 1994 again and how can i visit i can't even get off page 1? i'm happy to model the new makeup though so with the scabbed up sunburn i have on my nose right now, i'll be representing urban decay quite well i think actually.

whatcha got?

I'm sorry but I would have guessed that the Estate would have gone with the Wet N Wild crew for their makeup but I'm not mad at them and looking forward to the makup I hope there is a lot of it.

Yeah, if you want shitty makeup with fading pigment. Wet n' Wild. Really?

I instinctively shook my head "no" when I read Wet N Wild.

Like selling replicas of his chain hat, way overpriced tambourines, his attempts at scents, big ass ski jackets with hideous patterns on them, actually awful shirts in general usually (like the mustard speckled symbol shirt from Act II), etc...

You are my people.

I thought about that disaster palette from Bret Rockman. It was on sale before you could say Jaclyn Hill lipstick.

The estate isn't going to make any money from the cheapest drugstore brand possible.

This sounds fun!
I guess everyone forgets that Prince did some very creative licensing himself ("Guitar" to Verizon, that CD on the UK newspaper, the CD sold only at Target). Hell, if he'd thought of this he'd be in the middle of creating it with Randee, Trevor and Demaris.
I'm buying two.

Yeah, folks on Facebook are up in their feelings about what they think Prince wanted. NONE OF US know what Prince wanted. But we do know the court told the estate to monetize itself, which is exactly what they're doing, whether it's a t-shirt or an eye shadow palette. It's common fucking sense when it comes to running a business. Do folks think selling old copies of Controversy or Batman is going to keep Paisley Park open for anything?

Guitar was Verizon

Target with the 3-CD set

3121 perfume promoted at Macy's a lot more than Target

20Ten on the cover mount (plus seems like another cover mount in the mix somewhere but I forget)

The two retail stores, how many clubs back in the day?

A CD-Rom "game."

I'm buying two as well. May or may not sell the 2nd in a year's time on Poshmart. haha
