Chris Rock named his Netflix special Tamborine after ATWIAD

Did not know Rock named it after the Tamborine song. Just found out in the latest Esquire article. Interesting reason why he did so.

Also didnt know he had a Prince symbol tattoo (pic in link)

Wasn't the song played at the end credits, or something? I seem to remember that.

Yeah, I seem to remember seeing that somewhere, too.

Regarding this article, here's the snip:

Says the writer and producer Nelson George, one of Rock’s closest friends (they first worked together on the 1993 hip-hop parody CB4): “He named it Tamborine, the same as the Prince song—I think it speaks to mortality. Prince is one of Chris’s biggest heroes. And dude is gone. So the show is also reckoning with, you know, that there’s an end point to this shit.”

Rock had "Tambourine" play over the show credits.

>

One of the subjects he presents in his act is his late addiction to pornography. "Tambourine" presents a discussion about masturbation, so he's letting his buddy's song speak for his own dilemma:

>

"Tamboburine, what are U, why are U the star of all my dreams?

"R U good, RU bad, RU just a necessary thing?

"Tam-booor-eeeeee-eeeeennn!"

There U go.

Over the last few decades, I've been asked so many times, since I'm such a huge Prince fan, why I don't have a symbol tattoo. The answer I always give is that it would never be something personal to me...

...because A LOT of people have them. Even Chris Rock.

But why would you let what others do, which is no one's business but theirs, dictate the decisions you make about your life and body? By that logic, you probably shouldn't get a tattoo at all. And that's... that's just silly, if you want one.

I have thought often about getting the symbol tattoo but then I remember that Prince didn't like tats.... wink Anyway, I have a few decals on my two cars of the symbol, his name and 'Paisley Park' to let others know that I am fam.
