1 - BATMAN SDE including all the sessions from Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic

2 - DIRTY MIND SDE

3 - CONTROVERSY SDE

4 - THE TIME ANTHOLOGY + Prince Originals

5 - SHEILA E ANTHOLOGY + Prince Originals

6 - COMPILATION OF OUTAKES FROM THE 2000'S

Not necessarly in this particular order.

[Edited 4/20/21 6:42am]

I woiuld love to get all the protege remasters with outtakes and Prince's versions on them.
For Batman, I think this one is one of the soundtracks/albums that WB still has the roghts to so I don't think The Estate would give them Rave to add to it when they have the rights to that and could easily press it up and release it without WB interfering.
They could add some of those Anna Fantasic recordings to the Batman SDE maybe.

The Estate would be able to release a proper Batman SDE under WB licensing with all the Rave sessions if they want to add them just because SONY doesn't own the Vault content. They just have the licensing rights for most of the albums (except the WB soundtracks of course).

If they go and release a Batman SDE, they will follow the same path as with 1999/SOTT so they will surely include everything they can from the release of Lovesexy to the release of Batman.

He's still right tho.

Anyway, a complete 'First Avenue' boxset CD/BluRay is what I want with every single performance he did there (even those 15 minutes sets like the 'Girls and Boys/HollyRock' jam he did there with Sheila E.)
Proper SDE's every 6 months start9ing with For You and continue chronologically from there.
Utilize 'Record Store Day' with releasing the unreleased albums like Katrina's Paper Dolls, Camille, Dream Factory, Crystal Ball, Rave unto the Joy Fantastic etc. All with liner notes from only relevant people who were there.

-

I agree with you.

Besides your propsal for RSD releases, they can also provide every three mnths a download. Like a previous assembled idea for a known album, or a live show in pristine audio, unreleased albums for protegeés, etc. There is just so much they can provide us.

dirty mind/controversy sde's. i don't wanna hear it from anyone about how "there's not enough material" or that they should "bundle the two together" because we both know that's horseshit. second coming, which was woefully incomplete btw, would be excellent with the controversy sde only for that delicious shot-in-film footage

i want whatever's left outtakes wise from 93-95, but i don't trust the estate to handle it properly and with the nuance it requires. it would be futile to attempt a standalone come or tge sde, this era is one they will surely struggle with unless they wise up overnight.

similarly, the early graffiti bridge period is one i don't trust the estate to handle well, but if it were done correctly it would yield a revelatory and one of a kind archival release... this weaves in and out with rave 89' thus complicating things further.

my request is no more bullshit one-off albums (to clarify, i'm speaking on things like piano and mic and originals... stuff like W2A is a-ok with me cause it's the real deal), no more half assing deluxe packages, and change your view of what an archival releases could and should be. take notes from dylan's team, and by that i don't mean release everything, but rather consider what you're releasing and adjust contents accordingly. the guy is gone, this is for the benefit of the scholars and music listening public, spinning everything into some masterpiece and elaborately constructed narrative to sell people hype is doing the music a disservice and actively hindering actual deep dives into his work, of which we should've gotten several by now.

Well, what's interesting is that the upcoming Welcome 2 America album is the first new material to be released by SONY. Whether it has 'legacy' tagged on the end or not. The original Rave stuff dates back to 87-89. My best guess is if this were released tomorrow, Warners would have the rights, not Sony.

Basically the dividing line is, music released before 95 will come under Warners. Anything recorded from '95 onwards will be Sony's remit. If I'm misreading and Warners actually have rights to post-95 stuff, that wouldn't explain how Sony come to be releasing this new 'old' album.

Agree. biggrin

Add a huge DVD box of the Purple Rain highlight years from the development ideas and shooting the movie in 1983, up to the tour finale in 1985.

Something like a movie box +every note of music played/performed in that era would just be fucking awesome !

I think it would be cool to do a seperate Rave.. album release with alternate takes, outtakes and demo's and everything. Treat it like a seperate aborted release like they are doing it with Welcome 2 America.

I would like them to tell us how things are going. Have they been through all the audio yet? What about all the video? What is the plan for upcoming special editions? Let us know what will be coming for the next few years. I feel like we just get the usual " we have found some great stuff but can't talk about it"

How about a big,multi-disc Paisley Park Records box set that includes remastered CDs from the likes of The Time,Mazarati,The Family,Sheila E.,Jill Jones,Madhouse,Apollonia 6 and others?

Include a bonus DVD with all the music videos from these artists.

I know all the shows were recorded, but do we know if they were all filmed ? The only P&M I show I’ve heard that were filmed were the 2 Paisley Park shows? Does anyone have any info on other shows filmed ?

I am pretty sure all piano shows were filmed although i dont think the do prince right 😔

I'd like to see an estimate of number of songs recorded per year, and the names of albums that P recorded, intended for future release.

Everything prince recorded from 1977-1990...every scrap....after that I don't know. Lots of mediocre stuff has been released since then...LOTS. That said Prince has fans from every era so I guess give the old schools fans something followed by the newer school and repeat until we all die.

That mirrors the great run of albums he had, through 1977-1990 period. Well actually For You should have been a 10, rather than 8/10, going off the vault songs I've heard from that era. Only one song on Graffiti Bridge - an album underestimated by people with inferior taste - was recorded subsequent to 1989. Including the Sign Deluxe comp, I can identify 4 brilliant vault albums just from the late 80s.

Everything that is special about Prince as as an artist and songwriter is found in the 1977-1990 era- in fac I woukld extend it through 1993. Honestly, he fell off hard soon after. Starting chasing trends, releasing too much music, acting like petulant, entitled. trulent prick but, sure, there's lots of great music and more to come post 1993.
