One of the worst periods of my life. i still hadn't quite got over my mother's death and was drinking the pain away. i had just moved back to Seattle(decided not to stay) and was between apartments(i was staying at a cheap hotel). i turned on the TV and they had the Prince birth, death notice on there. i just remember immediately bursting out crying. i stayed drunk for the next few days but i eventually made it to the library, to get on a computer, to type what i ended up posting on here. it took everything to keep from losing it while i was typing.

Sometimes it's still hard to believe that both my mother and Prince are gone. My mom was a Prince fams and when she died we buried her in a purple outfit. She had bought the outfit years prior, to wear to the Musicology Concert we went to. She only wore the outfit two times. At the Prince concert, and at her funeral. disbelief

Cherish what time(and loved ones) you do have on this earth.

Thank you for sharing that. You and I had a very similar experience as I lost my Mom 6 months before Prince passed on. It was a hard time for me also. But, we made it through, didn't we? Time makes it easier but I won't forget what each of them meant to me.

My dad passed away Nov 2015 and I thought I was dealing with it relatively well but by the summer of 2016 I completely crashed and burned. Prince's and David Bowie's deaths (and a good friend a year before my dad) drove me into a greater depression and to be honest, ever since, it's been pretty hard to dig out of that hole.

Definiitely seek comfort in your friends.

5 years later, Prince is irreplacible. sad

.

The same thing can be said about Little Richard, James Brown, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, George Michael, & everyone else from those respected generations of talents. Listening to 20th century music, including Prince's music, is a reminder that the people with real talent are dying out [or getting killed out?] and all we to look forward to from the current generation are clones, wannables, or worse.
