When I was a member of the NPG Music Club I downloaded The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse. Burned a couple of CD hard copies of each and gave them away to other Prince fans across they years but now when I try to burn copies of them my Windows media won't let me do it. Can't figure out what the problem is.

Are these .wma files? If I remember right, they had DRM protection on them, and since there's no way to renew the license, they're pretty much useless. Can you play them, even?

There's a thread from 2008 about trying to get around the problem... (but the things are also available from multiple digital stores now--with the tracklist changes and substitution of My Medallion for The Dance on TCI--starting on Tidal and then spreading to all the usual locations).

I've never successfully gotten a link to work (I have no idea why, apparently I can't follow the directions) but here's the link to the thread

I'd at the very least like the various Jill Jones/Vanity/Apollonia/Family/Madhouse/NPG albums on streaming. Hell, even the Carmen Electra and Mayte albums should be on there.

I never got around to getting a physical copy of Madhouse 16, I'm sure I will at some point. As for the rest... my days of trying to track down an affordably priced CD of Paisley Park Records side-projects are long over, I have most of them on vinyl anyway. I'd like the above to be rereleased proper though.

[Edited 4/19/21 7:06am]

There's a shop in Talbot Street called Bookmart/GameXchange that sell some really rare Prince CDs. I got Emancipation, N.E.W.S., Ice Cream Castles and the Lotusflow3r triple pack. More often than not you probably won't find anything of note but it's worth a check whenever you're in town next. Mind you, I haven't been in there in over a year so the shop might not even be there anymore for all I know.

Ah thanks, I'm well versed in the life of second hand music stores! There used to be about 20 of them back in the day, almost all gone now.

I unfortunately deleted the original files from my pc after a couple of the songs went missing so the 'license' was deleted along with it. Never thought it would be a problem since I had some hard copies saved but I still can't burn new copies from those hard copies.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the hard copies will play in my bluray player that's hooked up to my receiver and in my newer car cd player. I am rather computer illiterate so I don't know how to convert the files. I had a co-worker make some hard copies for me but even those I can't make copies of.....

Jill Jones is the one for me. I have mentioned before...have it on cassette and ripped a copy on CD years ago and the sound is horrendous. i have the 12" singles from the album (which I cherish), but not the actual album. Vinyl or CD, I don't care. It's my fave Paisley album (outside of Prince of course).

We're gonna need a bigger boat

I'm always hoping that the Estate eventually does limited edition CD physical releases of things like C-Note, The SlaughterHouse, Chocolate Invasion, the Anthology and the 1985 Syracuse concert instead of just streaming them.

Well, my collection is entirely digital now, so it's much easier to obtain things, but I have no interest in the vast majority of the associated artists, Eric Leeds being the exception.

Phase3- I can't tell what contry you live in but there are a few copies being sold on Ebay and the prices aren't crazy. There are one or two sellers that are asking way too much for theirs but for the most part the prices aren't too much over the original price.

Until reading this thread, I realised I didn’t have a physical copy of a lot of the later Prince albums. That’s now changed, as I thought I must get 3121 (just had a digital copy from my brother), Lotusflow3r 3 album set (used to have it but gifted it to my bro), then only had downloads of HitnRun Phase 1, PlectrumElectrum and Art Official Age. Internet shopping with a few wines this last week has changed that though.

I do have physical copies of the vast majority of the protege stuff, either vinyl, CD and the odd tape. One day, I’ll work out how much I’ve spent, and how much it is now worth (CDs I think will get less and less valuable over time, whereas original vinyl and perhaps tapes may go up).

I have no desire to have the Appolonia 6 CD as I really can't stand 'TMWY'.

.

Sorry, but what's TMWY? I can't find a song that would fit on the Apollonia 6 album. Also.. until the Jill Jones album, it was the best associated album (well, side 2). It's quite underrated.

.

Lastly, where can I find the "hard 2 find" list?

Off the top of my head, official copies of these Prince-related albums on CD usually sell for $50 or more:

Apollonia 6 - Apollonia 6 (released in Japan only)

Támar Davis - Milk & Honey (official copies pressed in Japan, but pulled before release; Discogs also lists a U.S.promo without any artwork)

Madhouse - 8

Madhouse - 16

Mazarati - Mazarati (released in Japan only)

The New Power Generation - Gold Nigga

The NPG Orchestra - Kamasutra (released only as part of the 5CD edition of Crystal Ball)

Prince - The Undertaker (official copies pressed, but pulled before release)

You have to find one of the copies of the Black Album that has the little black and white UPC sticker attached to the back of the actual jewel case. Those are the real ones. I've seen copies go for around $25, which would be a good deal.

The fake gold ones are almost perfect-unless you compare it to a real one and you can see that the image clarity isn't the same (on the inside of the jewel case artwork).
