How much do these things sell for? I still buy vinyl but have steered clear of RSD until now

So no new anything until THE TRUTH on June 12th? The Estate is such a rollercoaster when it comes to releases. Good lord.

It'll probably be about $50 / £30.... around about there I would think.

I was thinking the same thing. Especially considering the mod in question is constantly locking and moving threads. Most of the time I think their actions are very Ill judged.

Many modern vinyl pressings are bad but hopefully the fact this was recorded in 98 will mean the pressings sound ok. I find albums recorded after the mid 00s tend to sound worse on vinyl.

Hopefully the pressing will be better than One Nite ALone. My copy sounds horrible with constant surface noise. I bought both Rave and Chaos& Disorder and these sounded fine.

I never succeed in listening to this album in its entirety (!). I would have gave it a try on CD at 10 bucks.
But surely not on vinyl at 40 bucks, sorry.
It wad never supposed to be listened to that way, by the way.

Maybe it was never supposed to be listened to at all, since it was just a bonus dic for CB.

If you got a dodgy sounding One Nite Alone, you should've returned it.... mine sounds fantastic... all the Sony reissues since Prince's passing have sounded FANTASTIC on vinyl... bar none.

I'm sure The Truth will also sound great on vinyl, unless they suddenly drop the ball on their pressings. No reason to think that will happen.

When it was recorded will have absolutely nothing to do with how it sounds on vinyl.

If it well pressed, as every other Sony reissue has been, it will sound great. If it is not, it will sound shit. Hopefully the former.

VAHT???

What "way"?

.

Take a long, deep breath and then breathe in 'The Truth'.

.

...after you've bought it, of course.

(btw, you said "wad", and then you said "dic" lol )

My vinyl copy of ONA sounds fantastic too. So The Truth is a sure buy for me.

I thought it was meant to be a standalone acoustic follow up to Emancipation but plans changed and it became integrated into the Crystal Ball project.

It was thrown in with CB because CB was such a massive fuck-up they desperately tried to please people. Hence the inclusion of two bonus discs, a free T-shirt,... and then later on sending people tapes of The War.

.

Of course, they also managed to fuck all of that up as well, because Prince was an incompetent businessman.

I don't think he did too badly overall. He was worth a few quid when he died.

Why is the song Circle Of Amour mispelled "Circle Of Amore"? Is it just an error?

I disagree. Many albums recorded digital as most are in this century, do not sound good on vinyl. They have not been mastered properly for vinyl.

It was actually meant to be released alone but then EMI folded so they had to rethink what to do with it.

Yes. The Truth was originally scheduled as a standalone release on EMI.

I posted a blank CD-R to Paisley Park from the UK and it returned a few weeks later with 'The War' recorded on it.

And they succeeded. I adore the complete Crystal Ball + The Truth + The War box set. It's one of Prince's projects I loved most.

No, he wasn't too competent as a businessman in the last 20 years of his life. HOWEVER, the fans did get more product out of Prince in those years, than most musicians have to offer in a whole lifetime (regardless of the quality of the music itself). AND: during his classic period, Prince was signed to WB after all. Hardly an incompetent decision to begin with. May I remind everyone: not many major labels would've published as many records (as well as supporting vanity label Paisley Park). What remains in the end? Without being apologetic of Prince's shortcomings - Crystal Ball "fiasco" memories, or a mind-blowing amount of new songs?

Prince last albums hardly sold 100.000 worldwide.
Had Prince lived, it would have been worst and worst.

He wasn't able to promote anything anymore. He wasn't even invited on TV anymore.

I hope it is not purple vinyl, they seem to want overuse this color where it has absolutely no relavence. ONA for example, that vinyl should have been ivory white or clear white, perhaps with the black piano notes moving out an inch or so from center. THAT would have been relavent.

Have not really thought about what they should do with The Truth, any ideas? I just know it should not be purple.

They got SOTT and TRC vinyl right though.
