So, yes, of course there is a market for this.

.

There is a market for plenty of things, but considering that this is the first sign of life from the Estate in over six months (and for now this is still a rumor, though one substantiated by some evidence), the fact that this is things we already have makes it pointless.

.

There is a fucking vault. Give us unreleased stuff every four months instead of delivering an unsatisfactory SDE once a year and a bunch of re-releases which only exist because Prince was an incompetent businessman who proved over and over how lucky we were that WBR kept shit in print.

It's certainly frustrating. Although at one point I didn't think we'd be getting any vault stuff for years, so I've been pleasantly surprised by the amount of material that's made its way out of the vault so far.

I have the original (x2) and will likely purchase the RSD release. I really like this album. The song “The Truth” is more relevant than EVER in these crazy, ‘woke’ times. Wonder what P would think about all of this shenanigans...

"It's all in God's hands", "The Bible says...." etc, etc, etc.

Pretty sure he'd be all in the whole "not disrespecting women" thing. COVID he'd say was god's will.

Are you using "woke" as a perjorative? You put it in quotes.

Same. It's easy to bitch about the choices the estate makes but they have an exhausting amount of shit to sift through, tons of legal and financial issues to hurdle to get it out, have to try and please everyone from the die hards to the mainstream and, to be honest, probably struggle with figuring out "what's good and what aint" from all the vault and unreleased stuff.

Probably sound quality issues to sort out too. Whole bunch of shit. Took me close to three years to sort oout the estates of my dad, grandmom and step mom (who all dies within 18 months) and I can assue you that none of them left behind as much shit as Prince did.

I'm pretty happy overall with what we've gotten in 5 years even if my preference is largely for new live stuff, aftershows and vault material. NOTHING they could put out would satisfy everyone.

Having said that, I wonder though if 5 years later we really aren't down the nitty of the gritty and the demand is mostly from the devoted at this stage. I get they need to SELL this stuff but my gut tells me that most of what's driving demand NOW -- 5 years later -- is people like us. Even then, as the org has shown us countless times, what satisfies us is nebulous and we're all incredibly fickle with tastes all over the damned map so even if that's true good luck satisfying even half of us.

Not sure about Petty, but Hendrix's family have also been fighting each other over rights.

I really don't understand why a mod decided to start their own thread and then make it a sticky when there is an existing thread, but such are the ways of the Org: https://prince.org/msg/7/466332

Is it your job to be petty?
Seems most every post is you griping about something.
Maybe get a different hobby?

I can confirm it is. The mods allow it.

Kind of a drag, huh?

For those that disklike The Truth, I wonder if you would have the same sentiments if it was marketed, toured on, tv appearances, interviews, radio, sold at a major outlet, etc. Half of you who say you don't like stuff, come back weeks, months, years later to say you now do (now that you gave the music a chance), and the other half seems to be caught in some bubble where unless all the aforementioned stuff happened, it is viewed as sub par after only one or even no listens through the album.

In my opinion, nothing could be further from 'The Truth". To me, The Truth is a masterfully crafted album filled with brilliant Prince goodness.

Yes, some of you may honestly dislike it exclusive from anything I mentioned above, and may even have given it ample opportunity to work its magic on you, but I think the vast majority of folks fit into those areas mentioned above.

Peace
