I get why he didn't see Susannah as a star, and we can guess control or using them on every other protege record explains some other questions, but I still can't figure out where she's one of the only ones we never saw a casual photo with, or entering an awards show with.

Kind of interesting, but it seems like there are some very specific people where photos with them just never made the rounds publicly, or he avoided it. But Susannah seems odd given he almost married her and the time period.

He actually did that afterwards too with iirc Sheila or Cat.

I was going to bring up Jill too, but I think the difference there is she was more of a jump off and the height difference. Not an almost Wifey.

It would seem to me some of it was a conscious, but it's just about who was given photo access like you say. It seemed more specific, since there are some photos. I just wonder why Susannah wasn't by his side during awards shows or entering events. Nothng leaked or was ever shot. Aside from that one photo where he's trailing behind with the cane.

Chaplin seems pretty subtle of an influence, but he did do that one ball of his heel turna lot, and definitely something in his timing, and doing thing like mugging at the audience before gesturing to his band.

Yes, but I'm still amazed at the lack of photos, even when they were around. Even Vanity, there really aren't many. I can count on my 2 hands and still have left over. Sheila E wasn't really wifey, and I don't think their relationship was heavy, but there are tones of photos with her performing with Prinec or going from place to place with Prince(and the band) during the 1987-1988 period. But not during the 1984-1986 period.

I sometimes wonder if the twin thing with Wendy is why. I remember back right before Kiss was released of an article talking about Prince & Wendy being in a serious relationship. Then the Kiss single came out with Prince and Wendy on the back and I became really confused.

Most Award shows Prince actually attended by himself. The 1985 AMA Awards show, Susannah was actually there with him. There is a photo of her on the carpet, along with Bobby Z's wife. Jonathan Melvoin was there too.

Yeah, I suspect there are a lot of photos out there randomly. Many people are still not sharing. I mean think of all the fan photos that came out after he died, that we never saw between 1977-2016.

where are the photos from the 83 Dance Benefit show or 1984 Birthday show, you know there are way more 'non professional' pictures photos of the Time outside of the very few performances 1981-1984 what about the Time's 1984 performance or the one where Jesse Johnson led the band..

After 86, 87-89 it Prince didn't do any shows, the few he did was with Fargnoli and Leeds

Yes, it was Prince that took the 'colored' photos of the Family. There were a few 'artistic nudes' that leaked that Prince took too. Also a few that were not in the photo album so I assume there were more outtakes by Prince and Horst

I still believe Allen Beaulieu has a lot more photos as well Jeff Katz

Parade album ollage by Ann Field,makes me think there are more outtakes

and a lot of 'non professional' photos still coming out

Brenda Bennett shared this one I believe after Prince passed away from September 1984 Barcelona Spain. Think about how long she had this one before finally sharing it, and how many more she/they may have...

He was with Susan Moonsie and Jill Jones too, but we only see 1 casual photo of him with her. And 1 with Jill(while with Vanity) I think. I thought about periods where we saw more/less photos of Prince and after 1988 the photography turned up times 10. But prior to that it was a lot of hit n miss periods of lack of photos in general. Not a lot of 'casual' Prince photos from 1987. Actually outside of the tour, not a lot even.

Allen B was a main photographer from Dirty Mind - 1999. He was around during the Purple Rain - Parade years, but he wasn't photographing Prince mainly. I wish he did. He did tease some photos from that period. So I do hope he comes out with another book before someone else tries to steal his photos.

But outside of Allen, you really don't see a lot of 'casual' out in about photos of Prince like I would have liked during the 1978-1987 period. Until Allen B came out with his book of photos there were a lot of images we just did not know existed.

Prince Jill Jones Bobby Z and Big Chick attended that 1983 James Brown Show, but outside of Prince actually getting on stage there are NO photos of him.
There are NO photos from the 1985 Masquerade Ball Birthday show


Until recently we've probably seen 5 photos of Prince with the Time members which is mostly with Morris Day.

Sorry! I guess I hadn't really noticed it before and it's pretty surprising to think about.

I think part why the snapshots didn't make the rounds is that they were controlling their image, and wanted to stick to professional posed photos. The personal photos are so much better than what passed for a pro photo in those days.

Still should be more from the shows too, now that you mention it. Every show had a photo pit, plus amateurs. The celebrated rock photographers never got access I guess?

Thanks for collecting these. The photo of Susannah and Wendy might be the only really natural photo of her I've seen where you get a sense what she looked like.

I think in the case of Susannah and Vanity it was definitely the other way around. That's one reason why seeing her in a full stage costume is interesting at all. But they both influenced him and his look in a formative way and he never stopped sharing clothes as a form of intimacy.

I thought(assumed) it was Juan too. But Juan always wore glasses. And his hair is straightened. I thinking it is

Yeah that bass is sweat, it sorta looks like it has the flower designs like Brown Marks, but everything is in that pearl white
