Which 1999 tour show Prince made more rock'n'roll

Majority of the 1999 tour shows that i've listened to have the same setlists with small variations like Prince playing guitar solos on Lady acab Driver and Automatic which was not the norm. But during Sunset Sound interview Peggy mentioned Prince took her to 1 of the 1999 tour shows and it was very different with lots of guitar work by Prince.so which show was that and any additional info?

I may have misunderstood her, but I thought she was saying the Houston show was funkier than the rock edged LA show.

Peggy had this to say during an interview on The Current.

He was such a different kind of person in the studio, that I didn't really understand who he was until he took me out on the road for that tour as a Christmas present. He gave me two days on the road of the 1999 tour, and it was New Year's Eve in Dallas, and then the next night in Houston. And I was completely blown away at his performance. I was just literally like weak in the knees. I thought, "Oh my god, I get it now." I never got who he was. The outfits and the attitude and the everything, it was always him. He just got to really exude that onstage.

I think she was referring to the LA show - which would be this one.

It's on part 2 of the Peggy Mac interviews about 13 mins in when she starts talking abou Stevie Nicks - she literally says the Universal Amphitheatre show that she told lots of people to go and see after he flew her out to the Texas shows and it was more rock n roll. It makes sense it was LA because that's where she lived and worked and where Sunset Sound is.

I suspect your definition of "more rock'n'roll" might be different than Peggy Mac's memories of one show 35+ years ago.

i dont think this was meant as she saw a show diff to all the others, but that the show was different to the recordings, and the way he was on stage was totally diff to what she saw in the studio.

Well i've heard all 1999 shows that are recorded and circulating. While most of the shows were the same there are some variatons here anf there.

Prince played guitar solo on Lady Cab Driver live Detroit November 1982.

on other recordings he didn't solo on that song.

On Automatic live from 1999 Prince is playing rhythm and solo guitar which he didn't do on other 1999 shows.

So maybe he added extended parts to the set list with more guitar solos played by him.

On some concerts guitar jamming at the end of Dirty Mind and 1999 was longer.

For example that ending guitar on 1999 live from that tour is the best and the logest in Toledo 1983.

Interesting, can you elaborate on more stuff like this, as in exact dates and song performances that are different than usual? That'd prompt me and others to go find a specific concert and listen to it.
