My first time hearing of this, I definitely don’t need to see the photos and would rather just remember him for musical memories

Personally, I was caught off-guard, as were most of us, by his death. Then there were other things that we did not know about that were surfacing as well like drug use etc. There were so many unanswered questions and we were scolded to, "Just focus on his music and be quiet" (That's what it felt like to me)

By 6pm the same day of his death, he was cremated, which was his wish, but his fans, IMO, were not given the chance to say good-bye over a several day period in the way that Aretha and Michael and others had.

There was a only a botched concert, his urn was not placed in a proper burial place, etc. I can name so many ways this whole thing was mis-handled.

To me as a fan, his music was all we are freely allowed to discuss. We were not allowed to

ask too many questions as we were criticized, so, perhaps, for me, for awhile, the photos were the tangible thing I could look at. They were real while everything else was hidden or forbidden.

If you wanna see them go look, you don't need validation. I saw the death pictures being on this site, not by going though the files, not because someone brazzenly posted them but thru a link to some innoculus article about an associate that happened to have them displayed right up front and center. i didn't get a say in what I decided for myself to see. I have absolutely no desire to see those pictures. Ever. I know that he is gone and IMHO I want to respect Prince in death and not view those pictures. I don't judge others for seeing them.

  • Sometimes, seeing a deceased person helps the bereaved w/the healing process. I bet my bottom dollar that for some Prince fans, those pictures helped them. They did for me.
  • When my boyfriend died @ 18, the first thing I needed was to see him in the casket. I must have gone 10 times.
  • Bodies 'lie in state' for 3 days for that purpose.
  • I also work as a nurse and have seen many people die, washed dead bodies, arranged for Hospice for those close to death, etc.
  • It is actually part of life and Americans are kept away from the entire process and have off-loaded it to hospitals and hospital personnel. They are therefore fearful, squeamish and overly sensitive about death and dead bodies.
  • Prince looked very peaceful, there was nothing disturbing about those photos IMO.

I didn't want to see them, but I didn't want to accidentally stumble onto them by accident either, and I was afraid that would happen (which, as it turned out it wouldn't, but I didn't know at the time). I geared myself up to look at them and I have to say they weren't bad at all, agree that Prince looked peaceful, it was just a bit sad to me, not disturbing.

No they weren't "posted" in PMM threads. The mods were very adament about having them posted blatantly and stayed on top of it. But just like these random poster post random ads in this place for penis enlargement or going to some school and god knows what else, somrthing by the way that I've never seen occur around here in 18 years until after Prince's death and a influx of people are now coming and going, someone in another section of this forum posted a article about something else entirely and in the sidelines of that article were the pictures. It happened when the death threads were hot and heavy over in this section and this same debate was in full rage with all these same comments were being made about how looking at them doesn't hurt anybody. Somethings don't need a major debate. No respected publication published those pictures because there are still boundaries. Even the National Enquire photos that were front page at the grocery stand were fake. There was a raging discussion about those too. Unless I missed it nobody on this forum just randomly critized anyone for going to look at the photos I dont see the sense in spending time contradicting people who keep saying they have zero need to see them.

Totally agree. The rest of the pics were fine but I think Carver wanted to put out all the evidence to lead to a conviction
Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

I'm going to make one comment on this and I won't be back to this thread...

You don't have to look at it. You don't have to look for it. You don't have to acknowledge it's even a thing that exists. People have demanded more transperancy around police work for years and this is one of those things that comes along with it (Edit: Let me be clear, they are legally required in most cases after a certain amount of time and if there is no longer any legal investigation ongoing to make all the documents public). There are voracious and unscrupulous media conglomerates clammoring for this kind of thing. Both mainstream and underground, there are people who are interested in seeing the photos (proof) of death. I will say again... You don't have to look at it. You don't have to look for it. You don't have to acknowledge it's even a thing that exists.

Second edit: If someone posted them here well then quite honestly they can just fuck all the way off.

What photo in particular are we discussing?

What is your personal situation w.r.t. being comfortable with life and death?

What is your religious situation w.r.t. life and death?

What is your situation w.r.t. non-family people like Prince that show signs of being human like you and me?

There's probably many more questions, please consider this a start.

Even if it isn't in the wrong forum, like I said, it's really pushing the boundaries of Music and More. And to answer the question, no it wasn't wrong to release the photo. As a fan, you have the option to not look at it. But we're in an information age, and there are people that want to see stuff like that. If it's a matter of public record, it's going to be available to the public.

Didn't know some special skill is needed clicking on a link. Man for decades I thought one just put their cursor on it and click. I'm glad to be informed it takes genius to do these things. Thank you for informing me of my inabilities to function. Of course no one will see my note of gratitude because I have no idea how to use this strange foreign machine.

I can only vouch for myself. I have only ever saw them clicking on some magazine link in the associates section a couple of years ago and I was pissed, still pissed. I've never wanted to see them. I've been in the official investigation files and never purposely or accidentally saw one pic. I'll say it a trillion times if I have to. I don't need anyone to make decisions for me based on their personal views. After 5 years who in their right mind needs dead body pix for closure over a person they never met? Speaking as an over involved fan going on 43 years. Sell that crap elsewhere.
