Tidal Removes some of Prince’s Master Quality Recordings

A lot of material from Prince’s catalog is no longer being offered in master recording quality on Tidal’s streaming platform. Particularly, Sign O The Times and 1999 Super Deluxe Editions are now only available in Hi-Fi format. Purple Rain Deluxe, Art Official Age, PlectrumElectrum, Hit n Run Vol. 1&2, Originals and various other singles are still available, but the bulk of his material has been downgraded to HI-Fi. Does anyone know if this has to do with the Warner Brothers distribution deal ending this year? Any news at all on this?

One of the reasons not to rely on third parties.

You can buy prince albums on CD in better audio quality for relatively cheap.
I suggest you all do that.

Hi Daisy.

I'm guessing this is to do with Sony now having the distribution rights. Are you in the USA? Warner must have withdrawn them and Sony has yet to re-upload them. Apparently the same thing has happened to the greatest hit collections too.

Fingers crossed this will get sorted in time.

Since Lust is in Europe these changes shouldn't affect the service in his region.

I've been doing that since 1987 or so.

Some CD's are better sounding then HD Masters and vice versa.

New Zealand but perhaps that’s the reason.

Yes I've ssen lord of the rings.

Well my joke was this, when VaultCurator said :

"I saw New Zealand in your bio but for some reason I read Netherlands"

My remark is that there is a huge difference between those countries. wink

Anyway, drop it.

((Anyways...

(By the way) Peter Jackson is about to finish a The Beatles documentary/film,

and from the 2min clip I saw on instagram, it looks absolutely stunning !

Go and check it out if you're interested.))

There's a great 4/5 minutes pre-taste goodie

Mr. Jackson released on Instagram (I presume also on facebook),

go check it under his name.

I was blown away by the fantastic sillyness of the 4 fabs.

I looked for PJ on Insta, but only found a bunch of fan pages. I like the personalities of the Beatles and I always liked them as a group but I haven't always liked their music. I actually prefer all of their solo stuff to their band stuff, isn't that weird?

Tidal still does not have the Master access- anyone heard any more on this?

Same line of question, Sign was not released for download in anything higher resolution than 44/24 anyone have insights? Most recent releases have had 96/24 options. It seems they are maxing out at 44/24 now. Anyone know why?

Thanks!

Are you saying that Warners no longer distributes Prince material and Sony does? If so, what material has transfered to Sony?
