I just tweeted today that the 2nd side of Dangerous is an album unto itself.

Black or White

Give In To me

Who Is It

Will You Be There

Keep The Faith

Gone Too Soon

Dangerous

That's a winner right there. I'm not a huge fan of "Can't Let Her Get Away" or "Heal The World." So the first side falters a tad, not that "Remember The Time," "In the Closet" or "Jam" are bad songs. And the rhythm of "Why You Wanna Trip On Me" is infectious.

Anytime an MJ fan wants to discover Prince, I advise him D&P. And it works. It s a very accessible album, in the same vein of what MJ did throughout his whole carreer.

I'm an MJ fan and I think D&P is a ropey old pile of shit. lol

Ha Ha lol very funny. At least Prince doesn't have a mockumentary with two liars saying he molested them when they were children ten years after he left this earth.

Well... "Gett Off" is a funk workout. "Beat It" and "Dirty Diana" are rock songs. "Gett Off" is guitar noodling and soloing. The other two are pointedly in your face with their respective guitar parts.

That's like saying, "Something In The Water" is a better ballad than "Human Nature" and "I Just Can't Stop Loving You."

i don't think it is.while Michael was going for sisters street sound, her sound was an updated Minneapolis sound.i don't hear mplsound on Dangerous

This.

Ugh. Go home. The song "7" , all by it's lonesome self, is more of an anthemic genius of a song than any of these.

-

I mean, I looooove Michael Jackson*, but you are way overstating things here. Teddy Riley's version of Michael Jackson is NOT where it's at.

-

Plus, you ever notice that "Why You Wanna trip on me" is a straight up zombie clone of Batdance's funk?

*

Who is it: The best of these songs. Still MJ trying to recapture that Billie Jean magic and the exact same thematically with the lyrics.

-

In the Closet. Cringey. Did MJ even know what "In the closet" meant? Either he outsmarted himself, or he was impossibly naieve. The video makes it worse. It's not sexy, it's MJ fake posturing, and kinda creepy.

-

Will You be there: Ugh. Smalzy and another stab at the same old "We are the world" "Man in the mirror" thing that he just kept repeating. The album version is the worst went he does his woe is me poem at the end and fake cries (again).

-

Give in to me. Again, repeating himself. Dirty Diana part 2, any one? MJ formula: Hire the "hip" rock guitar player at the time and do some rock and roll posturing.

-

Don't get me wrong. I actually like these songs. Yet, they are MJ doing the same ol' thing and they are not the songs I'd hold up as being "great." I sure as hell wouldn't make the claim that they were better than any thing on Diamonds and Pearls and prince.

-

I mean, Prince gets accused for chasing trends with some of the stuff on these albums, but at least he wasn't still using his same old tired formula and "hot" producers and passing them off as "new."

Just wanted to say that “In The Closet” had nothing to do with what people THOUGHT. If you notice in the video, Michael wore a wedding band, something that he had never done before. Most IN THE KNOW people felt it was about his relationship and subsequent marriage to Lisa Marie. Michael was the King of Metaphors and a LOT of his songs had “double meanings”. I always thought it was hilarious how so-called “critics” couldn’t understand that fact and MOST of the time, got it wrong in their “reviews”.

Two songs About groupies, and with live sound.

Similar subject matter, but the sound is completely different. They are not akin sonically. One taunts, one cries plaintively. One is more straight forward, the other slinks and grooves.

No, it sounds like a Prince album - but Prince trying to capture the youth market of the era. Lots of pop and pop rap songs with some poor attempts at rap.

.

In many ways Dangerous was the much better album and it came out much later than D and P. Parts of D and P were written in 1989, way before Dangerous and only small pieces of it even date from 1991.

.

Michael Jackson sounds like Michael Jackson. Still both albums did their job, 15 year old me loved pop rap and pop songs and in those days my taste in rap still realised Tony M was awful - but still better than Vanilla Ice or Icy Blu.

I got plenty good loving for ya baby

Damon Dickerson confirmed that D&P was finished during The Nude Tour.
