a proper release for the truth however, as long as its packaged properly, i would love that. esp as it was an album that never really got released as it should have been.

I agree, I think if anything SONY should issue CB in a digital format and call it a day on that release. To invest in packaging that thing and pressing cds and vinyl wouln not be worth it. Unless you do a RSD exclusive and print about a thousand of CB and maybe also do an issue of THE TRUTH and not make it as limited because its more in demand, and Kamasutra I wouldnt do at all, it ranks up there in NO DEMAND right next to repressing the NEWS release.

They do this to make a buck not please us.

It is, in fact, a carefully, wonderfully sequenced record that flows remarkably well. I'm quite surprised that, after 22 years, some people still haven't made it past the "he mixed tracks from different eras" first impression. It took me about one week to figure that out at the time.

I agree - it flows really well. Some time and attention went into the sequencing of this collection.

I just read that The Hits 1 is being released on purple vinyl in Germany, but I don't believe it's Sony doing it. NeoManifesto on Twitter had a tweet about it.

Exodus and NPS? They re not supposedto be in the deal, they re not on streaming services. . The truth was released with Crystal Ball. I don't think they would release it otherwise. . Then what about Kamasutra? It wasn't supposed to be in the deal neither, since it is attributed to NPG ( like Exodus and NPS).

They're both on Tidal as part of the deal with the estate.

The only one not on any services is Kamasutra, which I overlooked to mention is supposed to be part of the jazz/instrumental set. It is scheduled to be a triple disc "box set" and to also sold separately. This is all pending at the moment.

I don't understand why anyone thinks they WOULDN'T release any of Prince's albums.

Saying there's no appetite for Crystal Ball to be re-released is nonsense.

Prince is a legacy artist now. His legacy is his music. There's no reason (other than legal wrangling present with some albums/tracks) that ALL his albums shouldn't be released.

There was appetite enough for a six-LP release of Emancipation, which one might have imagined would never have happened.... but it did... I'd say Crystal Ball is even more likely than Emancipation, due to it having several vault tracks from his classic period.

I want them all... and yes, probably most of all I can't wait for the 2LP NEWS release. One track per side, it's going to be glorious.

I fucking love that album.

But still, all these 'wilderness years' releases will be out there eventually.

Why would the NPG set be two albums? They had three

Because Prince was a moron and a horrible businessman. Thank fuck WBR owned his classic catalogue, and even they couldn't keep everything in print (B-sides, 12"s, protege acts,...).

I just had a thought, and I'm sure this has been covered somehwhere else on the site - will Sony have access to the vault tracks for the relevant period on these remasters? And how is it decided what the relevant period is for, for example, Around the World in a Day?
