We Are Who We Are- The Love We Make

Wasn't sure if this was posted already but I just finished watching the HBOMax series, "We Are Who We Are" and "The Love We Make' appears in the series twice. I took me by surprise and made me slighty more emotional I would imagine than most people hearing it. I was 17 when Emancipation was released and that song is...well, I don't need to tell you if you are reading this. Such a sweet momet in the show and really great to see his music being brought into new generations.

This is one of my favorite TV shows of 2020. I rated it a 9/10 in the TV Series thread in General Discussion. Director Luca Guadagnino has done grand, majestic endings before in his movies I Am Love and Call Me by Your Name. But never using a Prince song of course. I read that he's considering a second season that revisits the two main characters in their 20s.

Anyway, awesome an Italian production used his song. It interesting seeing where his songs are showing up.

The series is about two LBGTQ teens living on an American military base in Italy. The title I believe refers to them not conforming to the identity roles to which their families think they should--or even the roles the teens themselves initially thought they should.

I recommend it if you like the movie Call Me by Your Name.

Great series - pretty sure Dev Hynes coordinated the music.

Yes! I didn't see this thread until now, I had posted about it yesterday under the tv show thread, but found this todayt I was stunned to hear the great series end their first season with this song at the most pivotal moment. A moment of euphoria.

Fraser is listening to the song on headphones in the first episode.

I heard it at the time and thought as off-putting as he may seem in this first impression, he listens to Prince so I'm going to gamble that he becomes more likable in later episodes, haha.

Yes it is played when he listening to headphones on the beach, thought it was an interesting if incongruous choice for that particular scene.

However it has a massive impact at the ending, when the camera pans away from the main characters over a misty dawn in an Italian town, it works really well there. Found it very moving, such a great, powerful and emotional song and suited the mood perfectly.

Also anyone notice the track the characters kept playing from the band Blood Orange (who they meet in the last epiode) has the same beat / intrument that Prince used in 'Fuschia Light'?
