I was wondering if anyone could give me some more info on Prince performing the song 'Over The Rainbow'. According to Prince Vault he played this live occasionally, but only specify the first and last time. http://www.princevault.co...he_Rainbow

Do we know of any other occasions where Prince performed it and which renditions were (in your opinion) the best? Did he only ever perform it as an instrumental, or did he ever sing along?

I've heard him perform it briefly as a guitar solo on Versace '06 and it gave me goosebumps. I'd love to hear more.

I have a short 45-second clip of it that's supposedly from the 2006 Versace Experience. There's no vocals -- its just guitar and synths. Until I read the PrinceVault page you cited I wasn't aware that there were recordings of this from the early/mid '90s.

With respect to the clip I have, PinceVault says: "It is possible, but unclear, that the portion of Over the Rainbow heard in the 'Versace Experience' remix is one of [Ashely Davis or Stacy Francis'] recordings or one newly made circa 2006." The fact that they're not sure if this is from one of the '90s version suggests that they've never heard the '90s version... which in turn suggests they aren't circulating, at least not heavily.

Yes, there are some typos and gramatical mistakes on that page. However, its information about the 2006 Versace Experience is correct. Prince did Versace two times: in 1995 and again in 2006.

The 2006 Versace Expereince includes re-recorded versions of Around the World in a Day, Kiss, Black Sweat, Shhh and Satisfied, in addition to snippets from Lolita and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
