I'm no audiophile but TRC was the first one that came to mind so glad to see others agreeing with me.

There's something really organic sounding about it that works. Only track on the album that sounds "off" is "She Loves for Me" that seems to get...I dunno..."overloaded" I guess in certain spots (?)

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I love TRC but to me it sounds like a few tracks were recorded on after the other in the studio. Prince just ran the tape and John Blackwell simply follwed Prince's instructions. You can actually hear Prince giving instructions to John on, I think, two tracks.

some parts of HIT and RUN Phase 2 sounds good...some not so much. Groovy Potential does not sound clean.

We were told by Femi Jiya himself at the "Xenophobia" prince celebration that Rainbow Children was mixed to have more dynamic range instead of all faders UP.

Does it have more dynamic range than say albums right before and after?

wow...I've always wondered about Rainbow and why it sounds so good. I do love the 'warmth' and would love to see if it is even possible to improve with a remaster. Having said that, there are brickwalled parts...Rainbow Children is bricked...when that songs gets going, the busy arrangements are hard to listen to loud.

Parade really is balanced and they got the Linn right.

Agree about Deliverence too, but I think I like the mix more than the final sonics.

1999 might be underrated. I didn't find the Deluxe a dramatic improvement for most songs, and that's not a knock on the new versions.

I also think there is improvement possible with a remaster. The mix and warm sounding production on TRC are great, but they went a bit overboard with the mastering.
