"Completing the Collection was the One Nite Alone Solo Piano CD that Steve Parke had designed the package for with the help of Jeremy Gavin. Digging through my archives I had the original cover art Steve had created back then. It had more of a Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" vibe but did not get used. With Parke's help cleaning it up, I got to include it inside the Piano CD package as something new for everyone to enjoy.

.

Another way I got to make a new contribution was to name the collection. We needed a title to tie the previous 3 CD set with the addition of the Solo Piano CD and the Vegas Live DVD. Drawing from my own experience listening to all of this great music while designing the package, I suggested we call it "Up All Nite With Prince: The One Nite Alone Collection." If you listen to all this great material at once, you certainly will be up all nite! The name stuck."

Where is this "Bitches Brew" looking cover?

Astonishingly bad: One can only imagine what Leonardo da Vinci would have made of this 'Mona Lisa'

So, some say the sunflower represents Maytè and obviously the symbol is Prince.

Are they supposed to be "hatching" from the same other (fourth) egg?

Is it like a farewell to that relationship?

New eggs (hopeful relationships) in the nest still yet to "hatch" in the future?

And why didn't 'The Truth' have a proper cover that we could contemplate???

biggrin

After seeing Mayte's album cover, I'm gonna stay with my interpretation that its:

SYMBOL/SUNFLOWER: Prince and Mayte
NEST: PAisley Park
THREE EGGS: Prince, Mayte and Amir

Put me down as liking the "Bitches Brew" version better.

The eggs represent the three remaining albums intended to be released to members during year two of the NPG Music Club. The nest symbolises the NPGMC itself. The One Nite Alone piano album was the first egg, followed by three further albums, all of which remain unreleased (including 'Last December' and 'The Very Best of Symbol'). These were cancelled in favour of the ONA box-set.

Maybe one day we'll finally receive those remaining three 'eggs' as Prince originally intended, as presumably they are in the vault.

Steve Parke may be a fantastic human. THE FUCKING BEST!

But goddam his work for Prince is just utter crap. We all know this. His services must have been really cheap that Prince said yeah whatever.

[Edited 10/9/20 19:39pm]

Prince was also not great with visual ideas. His music videos have always been weak and that's only partly because he was cheap and always in a hurry.

-

Agree with the both of you.

-

The only video's i like are the ones where he performes in on stage,

When Doves Cry even is a bit... cheesy to me. though the costumes and make and all are stunning for it's era.

Basically the 1999 über cool video's are timeless to me.

-

Steve Park's work for Prince really made me doubt of Prince's interest in good taste ta some point.

-

A period in his life was over; he and Mayte and the death of Baby Amir.

-

See Prince (sympbol) and Mayte (sunflower) intertwined, and a broken egg (Amir?)

... willing to have three kids (3 eggs) and a warm home (nest) ...maybe.

Just my two cents.

-

It's a heartbreaking ablum with lots of warmth.

I think the eggs may have represented the albums originally intended to be released to NPGMC members as part of their membership. These plans were abandoned in favour of the 'ONA... LIVE' box-set.

From memory, that does sound correct.
