That wouldn't be profound though.

Well, I couldn't sit for a week the first time I heard it. It sure was profound enough for me!

Oh, same. For you and I, and many of us, it would be profound. But that's a very specific word and to say it to the general public carries weight. Along with "unexpected"...?

I am really surprised if this is not referring to either a For You expanded release (unexpected, profound, complete), Piano and a Mic (profound, complete), or Purple Rain SDE (profound, complete, arguably unexpected).

I am inclined to think that the following sentence where he mentions people talking about the SDEs for years is another nod to it likely being a reissue he's referring to...

Profound and unexpected eliminates a LOT of stuff. Complete only adds to that. A For You SDE would be able to be even more complete given the requirements for consideration as he wasn't doing tons of old material or material for someone else.

I would suggest that we stop thinking about something profound and unexpected. Temper expectations otherwise we'll be let down. Whatever it is most likely won't meet the expectation of those words.

Unless it's Piano & Mic 2016 or Black Is The New Black, I'll be disappointed.

I am actually hoping for a diamonds and pearls re-issue too.Mostly because I figure they will add the VHS music video collection that was put out for the album.I missed the boat when it was released on dvd in 2006 and now days I can't find a dvd copy in region 1 for a good price.Maybe they will throw in a concert not in circulation as well

guys. "comprehensive and unexpected" coming from this estate could mean anything, i'm not expecting the product to live up to those lofty adjectives, but i hope to be proven wrong.

.

Including the Madhouse albums. Even all the 24s.

So, over at Steve Hoffman forum there's talk of rumours (talk of rumours? Ha!) that Parade Deluxe will be pushed to 2022, and that Diamonds & Pearls Deluxe will come next... as well as a Welcome 2 America live set from Warners and an Apple exclusive release of First Avenue '83....

Let the rumour mill burst into flame with activity.....

Clearing up the bootleg market has been part of the reasoning behind super Deluxes. And the Parade era like the SOTT period has a lot. And Parade is far more popular with the hardcore fans than D&P (the market for buying the Super Deluxe packages.).

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I am, more or less, a fan of the Originals series now that I fully understand that it is going to include modernized versions of his songs rather than the actual demos. That is similar to the Michael album (but they included the originals too). I think they should expand the releases to double albums with the second part including the un-remixed versions.
It would be great to release the core protege albums remastered with the rawer Prince demos included.

That would work especially well for the Family album!

If that was true they wouldn't be referencing bootlegs and they would release all that is out there on bootlegs. The SDE's still don;t make the bootlegs obsolete when there stuff on there they should have released also on the SDE's.

An SDE for the Prince album would be pretty amazing as well. Especially because The Rebels album would fit the vault tracks like a glove (or would it be more appropriate for Dirty Mind?), not to mention the other treasures I'm sure they'd be able to include. Plus since they did that one off release of the I feel For You demo single, I feel like an SDE of that album has probably been in the works for a bit now.

I fear they would include 2 songs from the Rebel sessions and nothing else, saying that no othertapes exist. It'll be frustrating like that.

The Diamonds and Pearls super deluxe will come with a talking Tony M doll.

Pull the string in its back, and it will play any one of his raps from Push or Jughead.

You read it here first

Acknowledging that the boots exist is not the same as 'clearing up' the bootleg market.

I don't mind if D&P Deluxe is next. It would be awesome if the unreleased songs from that era gets an official release.

Strive

Here's my thoughts about the upcoming news.

1) D&P SDE bumping Parade SDE. Sucks but maybe the vault tracks will be more natural like the stuff we got on D&P Beginnings. And one of the Earls Court shows were shot on film so the concert should get a Blu-Ray release, right?

2) Welcome 2 America live show getting a release. Hmmmmm. Sounds like it will suck but maybe we will get a surprise. I was really hoping the rumor of Piano & A Microphone 2016 getting a release were true.

3) Apple releasing First Ave 83. This has been known for awhile but people in the know are saying it's no longer getting a physical release from WB. So seems like a wasted opportunity but hopefully we still be able to buy a digital copy like Prince & The Revolution LIVE!

Overall, the plans sounds pretty blah but maybe things will change again before release.

Just release the Madhouse stuff already. They're basically Prince albums in the grand scheme of things, although I'm sure some people consider them to be Eric Leeds albums.

Yes we do!

There's plenty of people who think that (for example) It and Slow Love are subpar on Sign O' The Times, but the arguable quality of those tracks has nothing to do with the quality of the outtakes on Sign O' The Times Deluxe..... same thing applies here, surely.

also, I like Jughead and Push. I know it's cool to hate them, but I don't.

It and Slow Love may have been weaker tracks on SOTT, but they still kick the ass of most of the shit on D&P.
