this is what i'm running with right now. a complete box of all the shows, audio and video, would fall into the profound category in my opinion, given the context and presentation of the tour itself. i think this would be an astoundingly cool release and i hope it can usher in a new age of us moving away from exclusively 80s releases for a bit

I really liked Originals but I think that's all we're getting in that regard. Wasn't it the contracted Tidal release? Was a good way to fulfil that obligation without stepping on the toes of any SDE.

As for an upcoming 'profound' release... Something which would fit that category for me is an online vault, or maybe a princetube, with all his filmed concerts available. I'd happily pay a monthly fee for those.

5. When Sony has the rights to all the non-soundtrack Prince material what happens next? There's still uncertainty there. If I would guess all the post-WB vault material is available but what happens to the WB vault tracks? Can Sony every release a SD "Dirty Mind" if they have no vault access?

A box set like that, with, let's say 10-12 vinyl records, would be at the very top of my Prince wishlist. Oh well, maybe in another life...

Whatever they'll let out, I guess I'm ok with it. As it is, I think they should do:

Every 6 months a deluxe version of a Prince album. Don't care about the order, but minimum 2 vault discs and one audio concert and one video concert per deluxe.

Every year an originals disc, but only songs where the artists got one or two Prince songs for an album/single, not from albums that are (almost) completely filled with Prince tracks (so no Vanity 6, Time, A6, Family, Mavis Staples, Jill Jones, Sheila E)

.

Every year at least one deluxe set of a side act, with a Prince version of the album, outtakes, maybe a live show (video if exists), so that's 4 discs minimum per deluxe.

.

Every year 2 surprises for RSD, be it an alternate config (Camille, Dream Factory, whatever) a standalone song (like I feel for you) or maybe an extra live concert.

.

And please release some albums that Prince had in the pipeline near his death! Black is the new Black, P&M live, collection of 3EG released tracks, etc.

Albums that sold in their hundreds back in the 80s have received deluxe editions. This isn't a goldmine but breaking even and making some profit would be easy with these. Of course, that would assume people in charge care about prince's legacy for the love of the art rather than for cash.

So, over at Steve Hoffman forum there's talk of rumours (talk of rumours? Ha!) that Parade Deluxe will be pushed to 2022, and that Diamonds & Pearls Deluxe will come next... as well as a Welcome 2 America live set from Warners and an Apple exclusive release of First Avenue '83....

Let the rumour mill burst into flame with activity.....

Well if they're simply incapable of going chronologically with these things then Diamonds & Pearls is fine by me. Lots of interesting stuff recorded in that era and hopefully some variant on the works-in-progress versions would be included, it's a seriously produced album.

It's one of Prince's bestselling albums and his return to the mainstream, so from a corporate perspective it may make sense. I would be checking for it, though would prefer 'Love Symbol' or 'Come'.

It makes no sense. It hasn't aged well at all, and is one of those albums that sold well at the time but is hardly remembered fondly by either the fanbase or even the public.
