Jesus dude, give it up. People liking the set isn't a personal attack on you. Every time someone praises the set you start up with the patronising insults.

Jesus dude,

.

Why refer to these personalities when I ask simple questions?

When a so called 'reputable' record label puts out quality like this (I will not reiterate some of the flaws) then they should be ashamed when they had so much time to prepare, to explain, to check, andsoforth.

.

People liking the set isn't a personal attack on you.

.

You think I preceive things that way but the thing is if you read over the flaws and do not see how much better the thing could have been, then WHAT will trigger feelings of regret w.r.t. increased qualities?

I can compare to bootleggars who do rush jobs and still get out ahead.

What a bullshit statemaent. That is just your opinion.
No bootleg ever released has the quality of that of SOTT SDE. I to see and hear flaws but you don't know what they have to work with at Iron Mountain. The purposefuly watered down bootlegs are way more insulting to fans then SOTT SDE will ever be. I've never seeen a bootleg with a big book with awesome photos and the sound quality that SOTT SDE has to offer so with all the flaws saying something as ignorant as you did above is just sad...

How much better could it have been? Half a percent maybe. In the grand scheme of things the flaws are quite small. Maybe more could have been done but it woulnd't have been a massive improvement to the set overall, which is a fantastic release.

Uhm no offense but this is the first thing you mention in praise of the set? The most unnecessary and inconsequential (and probably main reason it's so expensive) addition?

With damn good reason you've never seen a bootleg with superfluous fluff like that... they're focused on content, not essays by comedians who made fun of Prince almost 20 years ago.

So full "Crystal Ball", "Last Heart", "Dream Factory", "Movie Star". "Crucial" with horns to name literally one commonly-cited flaw would improve the set maybe less than half a percent to you? k.... This is why the critical half of the site flips out on the over-the-top "where did you put your plus-sign?" half just for the record..... "Fantastic release" without those you say... k.

No I didn;t, I commented on the qualtiy first, something no bootleg has in this capacity and I didn't talk about the interviews but the pictures that no bootleg has in that quality.

Well yes, it is a fantastic release.

I don't miss those tracks on this set because we have them already, well apart from Crucial with horns but this is the first time I've seen that one mentioned. Would the set be better with these tracks on it? Yes, of course, but just because something can be better that doesn't stop that same something being great as it is. So I say again, it is a fantastic release.

On a scale from shit to fantastic, where would you put it?

I never said or claimed that I think WB and friends evr delivered perfection so your use of "still" is a lie, so stop making up lies about me.
No, I'm perfectly able to, you obviously are not when you're just aiming your frustration in a Prince fan website instead of to the proper source.
No, but I suspect you do and you either need help for you creepy obsessive fan ways or just need to end it.

Are you able to se the question marks?

If you call me obsessive then you have very low standards indeed.

Why pay good money for this set when it has various flaws?

And even the whole project (or the slew of projects as WB probably sees it) has flaws.

How will things ever get better?

With people like you communicating nothing?

Or with people like me willing to email, pick up the phone?

You must be leftist todraw these conclusions.

If you really care, please point out how you did come to these conclusions which are opinions....

(You did not write 'I think' but 'you are' trying to state as fact what your opinion is. You appear to care more about the shape of things versus the actual message, which is a sign of more modern folks with weak upbringings; I still do look forward to your explanations )

I'm not even going to respond to your first sentence because it doesn't make any sense.

Aggressive - you've constantly tried to argue against others opinions even when they haven't made an attempt to involve you in the conversation. This is a fact.

Rude - you've insulted people who have praised the set. This is a fact.

Elitist - you keep trying to 'school' people on why you're right. This is a fact.

Arrogant - you believe yourself to be in the right at all times. This is a fact.

You really struggle with the definition of words don't you?

Oh please, I answered your questions, if you cannot comprehend that you need to learn how to read and understand the format you yourself posted in to see that I didn't claim that your questions are facts, so stop lying again.
So here again the answers if it's not so hard for you to understand your own format:

Yes, I'm able to see the questipon marks (you obviously don't understand the format you yourself used to create your post to see that I obviously answered your questions.)
Hey, you're the one who claimed you wanted to see EVERYTHING released (even his private journals and personal recordings like probably sextapes and all you have no business hearing/seeing, that's obsessive and plain creepy)
Because i support the Estate and am hopeful they will do better and listen to serious fans who arent hang up on there bookshelfs and they need the money. Going by this (rather dumb) question, I understand you didn't buy the set? And if you did then why?!
Things will get better when we (obviously you don't) let our feelings and problems known to the sources instead of whining on a Prince fan site.
"With people like me communicating nothing", you're laughable man, you're the one complaining on a Prince fan site they don't care about. Weeks ago a person who sadly left here collected complaints (including mine) from here and other boards (with more serious and substantiated complaints unlike yours) regarding the material and presentation and his own HUGE list and write ups from the SDE sets and sent them to WB and the Estate, so you have no clue as usual what happens and what I communicate. But you keep emailing and phoning your petty complaints about your bookshelf.
I made my decision.

Ignore the glitches..........njoy the set.

Can't you acknowledge the glitches and enjoy the set?

Ignoring them flat outright gives the message Prince fans don't give a fuck what the estate serves them, they'll call it ice cream regardless... Why should they even bother to put any effort into anything if that's the reaction?

.

Prince famz have been pulling this shit for 20+ years. In the early days of the NPGMC there was vocal opposition to the shitty QuickTime app that ate all your PC resources, but the famz were "this is golden". Shitty QT app got replaced by half-decent website that worked with MP3s: not a peep of thanks from the famz.

.

Shitty MP3 quality gets criticized by plenty of fans, famz say "no complaints here". After months of noise the site maintainers get the message and start replacing the encodes with better ones (still not great ones, because why the fuck would you follow the recommendation of people to use LAME and not some shitty software): not a single peep of thanks from the FAMZ.

Seems fair, although I'd give the set a 9/10 myself. I thought the book was ok, especially compared to something like the 3121 book. But that said, I think I'm done with the physical packages and will probably just buy digital for the next one. I doubt I'll look at the book again and haven't watched the DVD yet!

No, here comes the Mountain place where they store and process the recordings.

Did they mention problems and issues they managed to solve, partly solve?

Did they simply transfer to highres digital and (re)master from there?

Without these backgrounds the dispreapir theory does not really stand.

Who owes those explanations to you, me, or anyone, exactly?

You and BVH can make all the criticisms you want. You may be right. Hell, BVH may even have a point if he actually wants to make it instead of hurling insults, broken clocks are right twice a day.

You had a choice to buy the product. You had an idea of what to expect from the product based on the last SDE. Whatever flaws, or "missed opportunities" (whatever the hell that means) or critiques unhappy buyers may have, they might be right, but caveat emptor. Take it to your used record store or dump it on Amazon or Discogs, and call it a day, like grown folks would.

All this wailing and gnashing of teeth from fans, which is the equivalent of complaining about the seat warmers and cup holders in a luxury car, is proving their hero right:

Everybody want what they don't got.

Owe?

It it quite normal to have this info, showing the work they did and how that went.

It is not about owing or not owing.

It is about showing the quality they produced.

You see this block of references towards Iron Mountain as a thing that should not be expected.

I do think that a quality book (!) like they produced should have a few remarks about how they produced these songs.

The frankenmixes, the sources, how they processed stuff, etc. Not all in detail but the main lines with the few exceptions.

If they did not provide this info they think that they can get away with whatever they did when we have a remark about stuff.

No, they can not.

The records and thus their erros have been spread around the globe.

If you think this is strange then you live in a different dystopia than mine.

Yes, a dystopia because of all the idiocy around me, from high to low.
