If your mindset stays like that nothing will change.

As if they can read my mind as to what they should do.

.

No that is not what I meant.

If you keep thinking like the way you expressed then you will not be an active customer that gives feedback.

That explains why stuff is suboptimal to say the least.

For SOTT SDE I really hope for a cheap edition in jewel cases.

The way they release stuff shows they do not understand SDE releases:

- All is one-off, no consistency

- No backbone on the crappy PR 'remaster'

- No backbone and thus censorship on 1999 SDE

- No idea of what is practical and thus the 'book thing' for SOTT SDE; plus a sheet for the tracks: Lack of undrstanding of what comes first.

Further complaints will follow.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

But that;s the thing; they don;t care about our feedback unless it's positive.
If they cared they wouldn't have Howe lie and insult us in interviews and neglect more knowlegdeable fans.

Someone on another message board said their CDs came scratched; anyone else have this problem?

A couple of my discs had very, very, very light scratches on them but nothing that interferred with playing. When I first opened the set up one of the discs had slid down behind the heavy paper cutout that was supposed to hold it and was stuck halfway behind the cd next to it. Good thing neither of them had scratched because I definately would have sent it back.

That happened with my SDE box as well. When I opened the book I found that one of the CDs had slid out of it's holder and was loose in the book, but all is well with the CDs. No damage. I imagine this can happen with movement during shipping. Happy that none of mine are damaged!

You are writing as if yours is THE definitive and ONLY opinion that matters with regard to the Estate and its releases. I am very happy with my SOTT SDE box set, and I think the group did a great job in putting it together. I have no doubt that it was a laborious task, and they made the choices they thought were best suited for delivering the music to the fans from both a cost and functional perspective.

*

Instead of always being the "glass half empty" guy, how about doing a 180 on that and find some positive with regard to getting all of this great music officially out - especially to the newer fans who might be experiencing all of this for the first time??

I.e.: I am 'arrogant'?

Cant you see the facts I wrote down?

Can't you hear the PR remaster issue?

Can't you see the different ways each SDE release is done?

Can't you see the impracticalities of the SOTT book?

So you did not look at practicality at all.

I have no doubt that it was a laborious task,

They had quite a few years to think about stuff...

and they made the choices they thought were best suited for delivering the music to the fans from both a cost and functional perspective.

.

The book is expensive and impactical as storage for these CD's.

If you only want to see the `half full` side then you are part of my dystopia.

This does not mean I cannot see positive sides of things.

The rest of us are trying to enjoy this release and promote positivity with Prince's music. As Prince sang, "have you had your + today??" You need his Positivity track on repeat biggrin lol

Received my 3 disc deluxe edition. Love the 4-fold packaging with photos and a booklet inside. Still waiting for the peach colored vinyls (expected 10/20-11/9). Got the vinyl SDE in my Christmas wish list.

Nice!!! I really do want to get a record player. I kick myself for not grabbling the really nice one my parents had from the 70's/80's which was still in mint condition. Hindsight is often 20/20 sad

Great unboxing and review!! I heard LOTS of "wow, this is cool", and "this looks great", and "this book is really nice", and "this is not just a "cash-grab", and "they must have spent a lot of time putting this together..."

Just received my cd super deluxe from amazon uk with prime (ordered yesterday and despatched by amazon uk). Was disappointed that it is a foreign version (I think french) looking at the lower sticker on the front. Anyone else get this? If so is there further foreign dialogue in the package? Not being anti French at all of course but I dont speak French. I would have expected to receive the uk release if ordered and delivered next day by amazon uk! If it's just the sticker that's French then no worries. If anyone could confirm before I open it, it would be appreciated.

A truly brilliant set and dazzling display of Prince's virtuosity and genius, but it does come with several frustrating imperfections. Several very strong songs from the time period such as 'We Can Funk', 'I Can't Stop This Feeling I Got', 'Girl O' My Dreams', '101' and 'Telepathy' have been omitted, while pointless edits, remixes and multiple versions of songs are wasting space. An unnecessarily flawed and imperfect, but nevertheless essential, release. With just a little more thought and consideration though, it could've been a deserved masterpiece. * [Edited 9/27/20 17:52pm]

"101" and "telepathy" will probably go on the next "Originals". IDK about the others. You're right though.

I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Maybe.
For years they have neglected fan wishes and even neglected or thrown away some amazing ideas from a group of hardcore collectors. These "elites" (for lack of a better word) even sent them prototypes so to say of ultimate deluxe editions (and also to Paisley Park) that were laid aside and then they came up with these releases with a non-fan, unknowledgeble WB guy at the helm gatekeeping the stuff that should be on these releases.
Given the positive reactions to these releases I doubt the few fans who don;'t like the release would waste there time complaining to deaf ears.
I am also quite positive because I just want the music and don't care about presentation or useless books with some comments of famous fans, but the photos are nice.
